Special KGOU Coverage: Democratic National Convention

Now that presumptive nominee Kamala Harris has made her VP pick with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, we move right along into a very different Democratic National Convention than expected only a few weeks ago. From August 19-22, KGOU will air special coverage of the convention with NPR’s Scott Detrow and top correspondents. Hear the nightly wrap-ups at 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Sunday Radio Matinee:

The History of Mountaineering, presented by The Forum

Humans have always co-existed with mountains, as ancient remains found in glaciers prove. But our interest in them may have been more religious in nature rather than just a fun hobby. So, when did mountaineering become a popular pastime? Tune in Sunday, August 11th at noon for this special broadcast of BBC’s The Forum on KGOU’s Sunday Radio Matinee.

Greetings from KGOU's new Membership Director!

Hello! I'm Cate A. Howell, new Membership Director for KGOU. My responsibilities include the weekly and bi-monthly newsletters, so I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself.

I graduated from OU in 2021 with a Bachelors in Journalism in Professional Writing. While there, I completed an internship with KGOU, so you may have heard me read out some community calendar announcements on the radio. I cut my teeth in fundraising on the campaign trail but found my real purpose in nonprofits where I honed skills in grant writing, project management and development. I live in Oklahoma City with my black cat Navidson, and we enjoy watching scary movies in our free time.

I'm thrilled and honored to serve as KGOU’s Membership Director. My inbox is always open -- please feel free to give me a call or an email to chat! I look forward to getting to know you.

-- Cate
