THIS WEEK AT ST. JOHN'S

_______________

ADULT FORMATION BEGINS THIS SUNDAY: MEMENTO MORI

This Sunday, October 4, Adult Formation begins a new series, Memento Mori: Death, Dying, and Rising, between the 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. Masses.

Death may be a suitably spooky subject for the month of October, but over the coming weeks we’ll look beyond the Halloween decorations to what the Christian faith actually has to say about mortality, grief, dying, and the hope of resurrection. Join us as we consider how the Church helps us face death honestly, faithfully, and with hope.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS THIS SUNDAY | OCTOBER 4

Bring your furry, feathered, scaly, or otherwise beloved companions to St. John’s this Sunday, October 4, at 3:00 p.m. for our annual Blessing of the Animals!

Pets of all shapes and sizes are welcome on leashes or in carriers as we give thanks for the creatures who share our lives and ask God’s blessing upon them. Bring the whole family and join us for one of the happiest afternoons of the year at St. John’s.

Email Scam Alert

Recently, fake emails claiming to be from Fr. Chris and other St. John’s staff have been sent to parishioners. These messages often ask for “help,” a “discreet request,” or unusual questions about parish directory information. They are scams. Please do not reply or click any links—simply mark the message as spam in your email program (such as Outlook or Gmail) and delete it. Remember that official St. John’s emails will always come from an @stjohnstampa.org or @stjohnseagles.org address. Because of the way email works—specifically the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) that underlies email—it is unfortunately impossible to completely prevent spoofed messages from being sent. For that reason, reporting them to the church does not help stop them. The best thing you can do is mark the message as spam in your email program and delete it. Thank you for helping us keep our parish community safe.
