Pathways To Success

Small Business Leadership Conference

Richmond, VA – March 25, 2024 – Plans are all set for Pathways to Success, Small Business Leadership Conference hosted by BizWorks, a small business incubator in Chesterfield. The event takes place Friday, April 19, 2024, from 8am to 4:30pm at SpringHill Suites by Marriott 12301 Redwater Creek Rd in Chester, VA. The conference is a professional development and networking opportunity for small business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, managers, and others.

A limited amount of tickets remain and can be purchased here. The ticket fee includes admission and access to all workshops, speakers, and the pitch competition as well as breakfast and lunch. Currently tickets are $125 (plus applicable fees) but will increase to $150 starting on April 15, 2024.

The conference, presented by Dominion Energy, features speakers and workshops revealing various leadership skills, concepts, and actionable tips. The keynote speaker is Christopher R. Jones, Founder of The Authentic Leader, as he explores Growing Leaders in the Journey from Startup to Mature Small Business. Steve Spiro will host the morning workshop, entitled Why Leadership, Culture and Values are Critical to Your Business. The afternoon speaker will feature Jay Markiewicz, Founder/CEO JTM Global and Assistant Professor & Executive Director of Entrepreneurship Programs at VCU School of Business with the topic, Leading The People Trusting In You. Jay will also be leading the afternoon workshop on Developing Your Coaching Skills and Empowering Employees.

In the morning, the first session of the Power Pitch Competition: Rise To The Top, will feature four area small businesses who will be presenting their business models for a chance to advance to the finals to compete for cash, and prizes. Conference audience members will vote to select three from the four, who will advance to the afternoon session where judges will crown the winner.

The four Power Pitch finalists are Sharelle Austin of Sharelles Naturals, LLC, Destiny & Dashia Oliver of RVA HOT WHEELZ, Katie Santoro, of River City Virtual Assistants, LLC, and Tytwan Williams, with Noble Fitness Training, LLC. Power Pitch: Rise To The Top is sponsored by Chesterfield Economic Development Authority.

Dr. Danni Gladden-Green, founder of SAGEsse Consulting, will emcee The Power Pitch event. Judges of the Power Pitch competition include Bernard E. Robinson, Founder & President/CEO of Networking Technologies + Support, Tricia Dunlap, Founder of Dunlap Law, Ravi A. Patel, Co-Founder & CEO of Sina Hospitality, Sharon Anderson-Grooms, Capital Access Program of The Metropolitan Business League, Joyce B. Moore, Founder & CEO of Joyebells, and Rob White, Brand Manager of Monster Tree Service.
