For nearly three decades, Frank Edwardi has been building more than homes and businesses along the New Jersey shore. He’s been building a diverse portfolio of enterprises, creating jobs and investing in the communities where he works.
Edwardi owns several businesses, including Pineland Construction & Recycling, established in 1997. The company provides demolition services, dumpster rentals, commercial waste management and site work, along with residential and municipal waste collection services for Ocean City, Avalon, Wildwood and Vineland.
As his businesses have grown, Edwardi has relied on relationships with people who understand his entrepreneurial approach and share his commitment to long-term success. Among those relationships is a partnership with Hyperion Bank and Frank Sullivan, Executive Vice President, Commercial Lending, that Edwardi says has helped his businesses grow significantly over the past 17 years.
A banking relationship built for growth
“We’ve built our company, with the help of the bank, from 9 employees to 150 employees,” Edwardi says, noting financing and lines of credit that enabled him to further invest in equipment, vehicles and new opportunities, helping him meet the capital needs of a growing business serving municipalities, commercial customers and residential clients.
For Edwardi, the value of the relationship extends well beyond financing. “Frank (Sullivan) and Hyperion have always been very receptive to different ideas, different ways to grow the business,” he says. “They've always been there for us.”
Sullivan says Edwardi's entrepreneurial drive and commitment to growth make him the kind of business owner Hyperion is proud to work with.
“Frank (Edwardi) has built an impressive group of businesses by recognizing opportunities and investing in long-term growth,” Sullivan says. “It's rewarding to work with an entrepreneur who is continually looking ahead, and we’re proud to support the businesses and jobs he's created throughout the Jersey Shore.”
Edwardi especially appreciates the accessibility and personal attention that characterize his experience with the bank.
“You always get a person on the phone. You never get anyone automated, which I like as a small business owner,” Edwardi says. “They keep the channels of communication open. So, if there’s any questions or ideas that I want to bounce off of them, they're always very receptive to it.”
Diversifying with a purpose
In addition to his construction, recycling and waste management operations, Edwardi is an accomplished homebuilder and real estate investor. His business interests include residential development and the acquisition of single-family homes, some of which he makes available for his employees to rent.
“I purchase a lot of single-family homes for my employees to rent, so they have a place to live while they're working,” he explains. It's an approach that reflects Edwardi’s emphasis on relationships, both in business and in his personal life.
A family-oriented businessman with three children and two grandchildren, Edwardi sees his employees as an important part of the enterprises he has built.
His diversified operations also reflect an entrepreneurial philosophy focused on identifying opportunities, investing for the long term and building businesses that can continue to grow.
Looking toward what's next
After nearly 30 years in business, Edwardi isn’t slowing down. His companies continue to pursue opportunities to expand their municipal waste collection services, along with their commercial and residential operations.
“We're always looking to expand the business with other municipalities,” he says. “We're always looking to expand it and grow the company.”
And as he considers new opportunities, Edwardi expects his banking relationship to remain an important part of that growth.
For Hyperion Bank, supporting entrepreneurs like Frank Edwardi means more than providing financing. It means building relationships, understanding evolving business needs and being available when customers are ready to pursue their next opportunity.
For Edwardi, that combination of financial resources, accessibility and personal attention has made Hyperion a valued business partner. And after 12 years, it’s a relationship he continues to count on.
