Hi Dream families,

We have a wonderful opportunity we'd like to share with you and your children! 

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is looking for youth who want to learn new skills to make the world a better place in celebration of National Philanthropy Day. The AFP Vancouver Island Chapter has partnered with Coast Capital Savings to create the Coast Capital Savings Power of Youth: Giving Hearts Workshop, a do-it-yourself philanthropy Tool-kit that will give youth the skills to help people in their community.
Because this event is virtual this year, it is open to youth across the Island.

How it works:  

  • Youth aged 10-25 sign up for the workshop at https://www.npdvictoria.com and then watch for the Tool-kit to arrive by email.
  • Between October 1 and 31, work through the Tool-kit reading and videos, completing each of the lessons at your own pace (approx.1 hour in total).
  • Youth that take part can provide a simple submission that demonstrates what they have learned about philanthropy and select a charity to receive a $250 donation through CanadaHelps.
  • One randomly selected group will receive an additional $1000 to give to the charity of their choice.

This Tool-kit can be used for an organized group, within your family, with a group of
friends, or just you. By completing the activities, youth will learn about philanthropy,
what a philanthropist is, how to recognize philanthropy in their own lives,
and apply their learnings to choose a charity to donate to.
