As the end of summer nears, I am fast approaching the completion of my first year as your Penfield Town Supervisor.
During this time, I’ve had the chance to connect with many outstanding community members and businesses. I have really enjoyed the conversations, which have cemented my appreciation of this community and its unique qualities.
As Town Supervisor, my mission is to implement projects and initiatives that most directly improve residents' lives. Today, we have several projects in the works to do just that.
I am thrilled to share information about the Penfield Pedestrian Connectivity Plan. In partnership with Monroe County, the Town of Penfield has introduced a project to bring approximately 14,692 linear feet of sidewalk along Plank Road between Shoecraft Road and Jackson Road, Jackson Road between Plank Road and Penfield Center Road and Five Mile Line Road between Embury Road and Crossbow Drive. This forward-thinking initiative connects several of our beloved parks and greatly enhances pedestrian safety. We are in the very early stages of this project, and I look forward to sharing additional details with you in the coming months.
We are also just weeks away from the completion of the long-awaited Shadow Pines playgrounds and pickleball courts.
Another project at Shadow Pines, the Clark House, is moving ahead. The project plan includes rehabbing the original Clark House and tearing down and rebuilding the remainder of the structure to create an event space that the community can rent. We hope to have work started in 2025. Once complete, the event space will help fill a significant need for additional gathering space in Penfield.
Did I mention construction is underway in a new Department of Public Works? The new facility will be built on the northern side of the current DPW complex (1607 Jackson Road) and includes a 26-bay truck garage, a maintenance area, an administration office, a fueling station, and modern safety features. It will also include expanded men’s and women’s restrooms and locker room facilities. Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026. Our entire community can be proud of this new facility, and most importantly, it will improve our operating efficiency.
There is so much to be excited about as we continue to move Penfield forward. However, none of this work can be done alone; resident involvement is crucial. We encourage all residents to engage civically and contribute to these important Town projects. Your insights, ideas, and participation are invaluable as we work together to better this community.
See you around.
