DON'T MISS THIS EVENT!

Wednesday, January 21, 2026

Todd M Husty DO graduated from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1980. He interned at Doctor’s General Hospital in Plantation, Florida and then began a 3 1/2-year Navy career in Okinawa, Japan. Although he was attached to the Third Marine Division, he worked the majority of his time in the emergency department at the Naval Regional Medical Center. After 14 months he was transferred to the Naval Hospital in Orlando where he worked as an emergency physician and spent time as the commanding officer of the emergency department.

In the 1980s and 90s, Dr. Husty expanded his roles in emergency medicine. He became the leader and medical director of emergency department at Central Florida Regional Hospital and at Waterman Medical Center. During the same time, he and his partners opened two family practice/walk in clinics in Lake County. During the same time, Dr. Husty was asked to become the medical director of Seminole County EMS, a position he still holds. He is proud that he has assembled a team that meets with all EMS personnel on a very regular basis.

Four years ago, he was proud to be asked by Sheriff Dennis Lemma to cochair the medical committee for the Sheriff's efforts on substance abuse. It was obvious that there was not enough being done. Dr. Husty and his partners have taken on medication assisted treatment at the Seminole County jail with follow-up treatment at the Department of Health. Dr. Husty has been named medical director of Project Opioid in Florida.
