Christmas in the Park & Parade

Blowing Rock’s Christmas in the Park & Lighting of the Town celebration is an annual holiday event that you are sure to love. Join us for music, caroling, and visits with Santa. Hot chocolate will be available from local vendors right next to the park, too!

12:00pm-2:00pm: Sound Counsel Quartet
2:00pm-4:00pm: Caroling Carolina Voices
4:30pm-7:00pm: Surefire
Lighting of the town at approximately 5:30pm

All events take place in Memorial Park, right on Main Street in downtown Blowing Rock.

Chetola gears up for Festival of Lights

Chetola Resort features a sparkling display of lights each winter season! The “Festival of Lights” is free and open to the public, and you are invited to enjoy thousands of dazzling illuminations throughout the resort. As you drive or stroll around Chetola Lake, view glittering ice skaters, “Rudolph” reeling in a big fish, strolling carolers and many more captivating holiday scenes. The “Festival of Lights” opens to the public on Friday, November 28, 2025 and remains up through Blowing Rock WinterFest- till Sunday, January 25, 2026. The displays illuminate at dusk each evening.

Tweetsie Christmas Begins

Back for 2025! Enjoy the wonder of the Tweetsie Railroad dazzlingly lit for the holidays! The train ride will feature over one million lights on its open-air route. Dress warmly to enjoy this special treat. See Santa in his Ginger Bread House, warm up to a campfire at the Hacienda, enjoy the lights on Main Street and the Christmas trees, visit the shops, and more.

Space is limited so advance tickets are needed. Tickets include admission and are for a specific date and train ride time. The Tweetsie Christmas event will be held on Friday, Saturday, and on select weekday evenings from November 28 – December 30. The hours are 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Green Park Inn Honored by Historical Society

The Green Park Inn has been a large part of Blowing Rock history for over 130 years. With the recent changes taking place on the site of the hotel, the Blowing Rock Historical Society thought it important to put together an exhibit to remember the hotel's rich history and impact on the town of Blowing Rock and Western North Carolina. There are numerous pictures from the early years, activities that took place, and some of the guests who have stayed there.

The Edgewood Cottage is open daily through the holidays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During the winter months, it will be open on weekends.
