You are one of only eight people I’m reaching out to! I hope you can help us with this important and pretty easy request, to represent your state with a photo, supporting Hands Off Cuba.
This is for June 23, 2021, when the United Nations will take its annual vote on the resolution to lift the 61-year old US blockade against Cuba. WILPF US is part of the National Network on Cuba. We’re taking part in collecting photos of people/groups in the 50 states in the US to show our support in lifting the blockade.
This is where you come in! At this point, we have photos from 48 US states but are missing photos from Alaska and West Virginia.
I’m hoping that you can help us out with a photo. Can you gather 2 or more other people (safely) and hold a sign (even hand written) that says "(your state's name) says Hands Off Cuba”? (If you can't gather others, even a sign with just you, holding the sign, would be okay.)
Ideally, your photo will include some type of symbol or object that will show people which state the photo is from. But if you can't do that, especially given the somewhat short notice, do it without the symbol.
If you can email me the photo within the next 1-2 weeks, that would be great.
I just need to know ASAP if you can do the picture. Can you? We really want to be able to show that all 50 states say "Hands Off Cuba”. We’re counting on you!
