St. Clare Updates for

November 7 - 20, 2026

Greetings!

As we approach the end of the year, I would like to warmly remind everyone that our Project Advance campaign continues until December 31.

Over the years, our parish has been built through the faith, generosity, and commitment of many people. Each generation has contributed in its own way, making St. Clare of Assisi the community we are blessed to call home today.

I sincerely encourage those who have not yet had an opportunity to participate to consider making a contribution before the end of the year. It is not the amount that matters most, but the willingness to be part of something we build together. Whether large or small, every gift is meaningful, and every parishioner's participation makes a difference.

Your support through Project Advance helps us pay down our outstanding mortgage on our church and parish property, while also allowing us to begin fundraising for the next important chapter in our parish's life: the future construction of our new Parish Office and Rectory for our priests.

Project Advance is more than a fundraising campaign. It is an opportunity to show our love for our parish, support its mission today, and prepare a welcoming and lasting home of faith for future generations. Contact our parish office if you have any questions about it.

Thank you for being part of our parish family, for your generosity, your prayers, and your continued support. May God bless you and your families.

Fr. Maciej

UPCOMING SECOND COLLECTION

Home Missions

Please drop your donation in the Sunday collection basket or in the designated drop box located at the back of the church.

Project Advance

PROJECT ADVANCE 2026

So far, we have raised $149,692.43 towards our goal of $250,000.

This is from only 30% of our parishioners. We have exceeded our diocesan goal of $63,300.

So now every single additional dollar donated comes back to the parish. This will help pay down our mortgage as well as help ‘BUILD OUR NEW RECTORY’.

By now you will have received a letter from Fr. Majiej reminding you how important this campaign is to our parish. Please consider donating prayerfully.

Remember, every gift regardless of its size makes a difference. Every gift counts.

You can donate online at projectadvance.ca or pick up a pledge form in the lobby. (in the forms rack on the wall by the bulletin board). The completed pledge can be dropped in the collection box, or it can be mailed or dropped in person at the office.

Our way forward begins with your generosity in growing our parish and local Catholic communities. We’re very grateful for your support.

BEGINNING NOVEMBER 14!

Food for Thought . . . and for the Soul

Pope Leo XIV has named St. John Henry Newman the next Doctor of the Church and in 2025 we were at a Mass in the Soho Square St Patrick's Catholic church in London, celebrating that special time.

Newman was no ordinary Catholic. He was a convert from the Anglican Communion. His conversion cost him everything: he lost his job, he lost his relationship with his sister, he lost his friends, and he lost the influence he had on the minds of Anglicans throughout England.

Newman had been a famous theologian, much like Bishop Barron for American Catholics today. But he was Anglican . . . until he wasn’t!

What did he receive by becoming a Catholic? He received what he believed to be the one true faith, and for him, that was electric.

Newman pioneered what would become official Catholic teaching at Vatican II: the development of Christian doctrine. His understanding of development forced him to leave the comforts of Anglicanism for the challenging life that awaited him as a Catholic. Without fear, he followed where God was leading him intellectually. And now we get to learn all about it.

That is why Newman is being named a Doctor of the Church: because he lived on the cutting edge of theology, no matter the cost. In fact, his alma mater, Oxford University, recognized his contribution to the field of theology by granting him an honorary doctorate degree. Now the Catholic Church is granting him an even greater honor.

Then came St. John Henry Newman. The crown jewel of Newman’s theological career is his great work, "The Development of Christian Doctrine". In fact, it was what he discovered as he wrote this work that made him Catholic.

A Prayer by St John Henry Newman

May the Lord support us all the day long,

Till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done.

Then in his mercy may he give us a safe lodging, and holy rest, and peace at the last.

Amen

DID YOU EVER ASK YOUSELF...

What am I looking for in life?

What is the meaning of my life?

How can I be a better person?

What can I do about the loneliness I feel?

How can I come to know God's love?

How can I know the right path God has in store for me?

If you are asking these questions, or questions like them, the Catholic way of life awaits you. Click here for more information.

Mass Intentions

Dates may be subject to change without notice.

If you wish to book a Mass Intention, please send your request via email at stclareofassisi@shaw.ca giving the name of the person, whether it is for a living or deceased person, who it is from and if you have any preferences for the day of the week, a weekend mass or specific date. We will try to book your mass intention as close to the request as possible.  Please note that there may be unforeseen situations when your scheduled date may be changed without notice.

The suggested offering for a mass intention is $10 and can be brought to the office, mailed to 1320 Johnson Street, Coquitlam, V3B 4T5 or dropped in the collection box in the church. Enclose your offering in an envelope clearly marked with the name and date of your Mass intention. Your offering will go to the priest who says the mass, not to the church.

If you are unable to use email, mass intentions may be phoned in at 604-941-4800.

We are able to accept multiple Mass intentions on Fridays. For all other days, the priest can accept one intention only per day.
