COLLABORATIONS CORNER
Local communities often approach the University of Northern British Columbia for training programs to address upcoming job trends. In 2013, UNBC Continuing Studies and EDI partnered to develop the Environmental Monitoring program which would prepare the upcoming workforce to attain jobs in the natural resource sector. The skilled staff at EDI provided students with critical knowledge and hands-on experience. In turn, EDI gained a skilled workforce that they would be able to utilize in future projects. This partnership was so successful, that UNBC Continuing Studies has continued to work with EDI to identify future job trends, and develop the appropriate training together.
Jason Yarmish, Senior Biologist with EDI, demonstrates taking turbidity samples during an Environmental Monitoring course offered through UNBC Continuing Education.
Mark Asquith, Environmental Technologist (EDI), instructs on stream velocity measurements at Tabor Creek during an Environmental Monitoring course offered through UNBC Continuing Education.
