Milk and Egg Production:
-
A2 verification: For years, folks have asked if our milk was A2. Since we run a closed herd of all Jerseys, we felt our milk was very likely A2, but we could never state that because he hadn't had the testing done. Over the years, the cost of testing has gone down, and we finally decided to have it done so we could be sure our cows are A2. I am happy to report: it is now verified that we produce and sell A2 Milk.
- Milk production is great right now. We have made plenty of inventory available online. Frozen cream is also available online. Fresh cream will be posted as available.
- Our laying hens are busy. Egg production is great.

North GA Candy Roaster Squash
We've had so much fun this year growing these N. GA Candy Roaster Squash. I had one a few years ago and loved it. This heirloom winter squash is native to the area and was developed by the Cherokee. The flesh is exceptionally sweet and slightly nutty, with a dense, smooth, and creamy texture. Excellent for roasting and pies.

Curious creatures
This picture is on the opposite side of the pasture from their feed, water, and roosting area. Why are all the turkeys down here in this corner? Because someone stopped by to visit. If you drive up near the turkeys, they will definitely come to welcome you to the farm in person. If you lean on the fence and talk, y'all are best friends. Their sounds are putts, purrs, and, of course, gobbles. They make these sounds fairly constantly. Mostly purrs. That is a rolling sound. To me, that is their contented sound. If the whole flock is ranging about eating grass and scratching through the grass for a bug or worm, they are usually purring. They sound happy and content. The putt is a little more anxious. They putt when they get a little crowded into a group, or if something else is bothering them. The infamous gobble comes only from males. A gobble can almost be forced by a loud clap, or sometimes a whistle. Do that, and all the males will gobble in unison. I have an old video of Jersey making a flock of turkeys gobble when she was 5 or 6. I say it every year; these birds are so fun to have on the farm. They are a lot of extra work and stress, but they bring a personality to the farm that is missed when they are gone. We enjoy having them for a season, and they get to live the absolute best Turkey life possible. If you haven't reserved your Thanksgiving turkey yet, you can do so online now with a $30 deposit. Y'all have a fantastic week.
