The O'Reilly Minute

Dear Parents,

We conducted our first school safety drill of the year last Friday. In accordance with State of Ohio regulations, we are required to complete three School Safety Drills annually, in addition to our regular fire and tornado drills. During this drill, students and teachers practiced evacuating the building and discussed alternative escape routes.

Students were instructed to move away from the building until it is no longer visible and then proceed to either Karrer Middle School or Brigid’s Green, if it is safe to do so. Once in a secure location, we will contact parents. To help you discuss these drills and general safety with your children, we’ve included several resources below that offer helpful tips:

Additionally, as part of our back-to-school safety reviews, next Wednesday we will be testing our Emergency Parent Alert System. This is a good time to login to FACTS and review your email and phone number for emergency messages. If you have any questions about this, please contact Meredith Dorley at mrs.dorley@stbrigid-school.org.

A few reminders:

  • Spiritwear Dress Down Day: This Friday, September 20, sponsored by SPICE. Wear St. Brigid colors or spiritwear to show unity and our school spirit!
  • School Pictures: Picture days are next week. Please refer to the details below for specific dates and online advance ordering information.

Autumn Blessings,

Kathy O’Reilly

  2. Set up a Virtus account at www.virtus.org and register for a Protecting God's Children session.

SBAA Winter Sports Registration Open

St Brigid Athletic Association is happy to announce Winter Sports Registration is now open here.  (Note: due to updates, the link may not work on some servers. Try clearing your cache or accessing the link via a different server. If you are still having issues, you can reach out to Brian Frantz at brian.frantz15@gmail.com).

Please note strict deadlines for registration, there will be no extension of registration dates - so please register as soon as possible.

The registration fee for basketball this year includes a $50 refundable volunteer fee. If/once you sign up and volunteer, you will receive the $50 back at the end of the season. There will be sign up genius with ample volunteer opportunities and of course all coaching positions qualify as volunteering. This was necessary as parent volunteering has been an issue in many of our sports. In addition, the winter sports registration has a hard deadline of Oct. 20. Historically we've had over 10% of sign ups after the deadline which makes team formation very difficult.

Basketball

Grades: 4th - 8th - Boys & Girls

Lil Hounds - 2nd & 3rd Boys & Girls

Commissioner: Bill Baumel - Boys, Mike McTighe - Girls

Fees:  $240 - 4th - 8th, $85 - Lil Hounds

Cheer

Grades: 6th - 8th - Girls Commissioner: Lindsey Meadows

Fee: $25

Ski Club

Commissioner: Jessie Hoffman

Fees: $120 Transporation + Additional Fees (Lift tickets, lessons, rentals)

If you have any questions about a specific sport, please reach out to each respective commissioner/contact.  If you have any problems with registrations, please reach out to Brian Frantz for any registration problems.

5th/6th Grade Football Team

The boys of the St Brigid 5th/6th Grade Football Team won their game against St Catherine's on Sunday 13-7. It was a close fought game where the Hounds' perseverance brought them out on top. The boys would like to thank the St Brigid Cheerleaders and fans for their support. Go Hounds!

8th Grade Girls Volleyball

The 8th grade girls varsity volleyball team played another double header this past Saturday (9/14), with one win and one loss. While they didn't win their first game against St. Andrew, they played some amazing volleys and competed well, not giving up until the last point was played. They rebounded in their second game, and fought off a comeback effort to beat St. Cecelia in straight sets.

The girls continue to elevate their game and teamwork, playing with confidence, agility and a positive attitude. Congratulations to our team members who attend St. Brigid school - Maeve Baumgartner, Gia Lombardi, Victoria Nocco, Mel Prevedello, Anabelle Robinson, Mary Schilling and Sarah Ziegler.

Golf

The Wolfhound golfers kicked off the season with a great outing at the Golf Club of Dublin with our St Brigid clergy! Blessings continued from there, as our golf varsity team is undefeated, and our JV team has been successful, as well, at 3-1!
