Dear Friend,

Yesterday, the House passed a critical and bipartisan Agriculture and Rural Development funding bill to better support Iowa and America’s farmers. At a time when our farmers are grappling with high input costs, I fought for this legislation to include my provision to lower fertilizer costs and surge targeted investments to where our rural communities need it most.

In addition to protecting our food supply, I supported efforts in this package to combat animal diseases affecting our crops and livestock, advance agricultural research, and protect farmland from malign foreign influence.

I also secured funding for important projects in Iowa that will strengthen local fire, healthcare, and infrastructure services, improving the vitality in rural communities and ensuring rural Iowans have access to critical services.

I’ll always fight to bring home as many targeted investments as possible to better our communities — and ensure farmers have the support and certainty they need to do what they do best: feed and fuel the world.

Sincerely,

Welcoming Iowans to Our Nation’s Capital

I loved welcoming local Iowa leaders to D.C. yesterday as part of their annual Greater Des Moines Partnership breakfast! And many thanks to the Partnership's President, Tiffany Tauscheck, for stopping by my office. I’ll keep fighting to deliver results for Iowa.

On Children’s Hospitals’ Family Advocacy Day, I had a great discussion with the team at Blank Children’s Hospital about pediatric cardiology services in Iowa, as well as with a family who has directly benefited from their care. A special thank you to their son, Max, and his mom for sharing his story with me. I’ll keep working to help Iowa families access specialized care closer to home.

Stories like Kyden’s are why this work is so important. After battling leukemia as a toddler, he’s now thriving thanks to the incredible care he received at University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. We must continue supporting efforts that help children’s hospitals attract and retain the specialists families count on. It was a privilege to hear his story and meet his family!

I also appreciated the chance to meet with Major General Stephen Osborn about the critical work of our Iowa National Guard. From overseas deployments, partnerships with our allies, and emergency response work here at home, I’m so grateful for the men and women who serve and will keep fighting to support their mission!

Out and About with Team Hinson

The Cedar Rapids Police Department’s K-9 Unit was a big hit with local families at Culver’s! Kids got to meet the dogs, collect stickers, and learn more about the important work these dogs do every day. Thank you to the Cedar Rapids Police Department for keeping our communities safe, and congratulations to K-9 Bart on a well-earned retirement.

Staff from Iowa’s congressional delegation met with leaders from the South Winneshiek Community School District in Ossian to learn more about their school nutrition programs and the work they do every day to serve students. Thank you to the educators and staff who go above and beyond for Iowa kids each day.

The Hy-Vee America 250 Veterans Breakfast was a wonderful opportunity for my team to join the community in honoring the service and sacrifice of America's veterans. My team met with veterans at several Hy-Vee locations around the district to discuss their concerns and provide casework assistance.

My team was also proud to attend the unveiling of the new Guardian Response Unit (G.R.U.) at The Stable. This veteran-owned ambulance will help ensure veterans and their families have reliable transportation and support during medical emergencies, funerals, and other difficult moments that no one should have to navigate alone. Thank you to Salute to the Fallen for their commitment to supporting fellow veterans and their families.

And to round it out, the team was honored to join the Ambassador of Luxembourg for several stops highlighting the rich history and heritage of Northeast Iowa, including visits to the Center for Dubuque History, the St. Donatus Parish Museum, and St. Donatus Catholic Church!
