From the Desk of the Director

In the short time I’ve been with the Paulding Area Chamber, I have already received such a warm welcome! Jill has generously helped me begin learning the ropes and making connections throughout the county. Together, we attended a CoRP meeting, Kiwanis lunch and visited several area businesses and organizations. I’m grateful to Jill for her commitment to making this a smooth transition—and to everyone who has taken time to welcome me and share more about themselves, their organizations, and their commitment to Paulding County.

These first few days have reinforced just how much pride people have in this community—and how many individuals, businesses, and organizations are working to make it stronger. I’m looking forward to continuing to build relationships throughout the county.

One of my first opportunities to connect with many of you will be at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet on Tuesday, September 15, at Grant’s Catering in Antwerp. This year’s theme, Planted in Paulding, celebrates the people, businesses, and organizations that are deeply rooted here and helping cultivate a stronger future for Paulding County. I hope you’ll join us for an evening of connection, celebration, and community. Registration is open through September 1, with individual tickets and reserved tables available with business award nominations due but end of day today.

I’m excited to be here, and I look forward to getting to know you and serving this community together.

“Don’t Worry. You’ll Be Happy!”

Since 1904, The Union Bank Company has built its reputation on community banking and local relationships. But here in Paulding, their commitment to community can also be seen in how they chose to put down roots.

Rather than starting from scratch, Union Bank invested in a historic downtown Paulding building, restoring it and thoughtfully incorporating pieces of local history into the space. From vintage aerial photography used throughout the building to remnants of the original wood flooring displayed in the lobby, the details send a simple message: we believe in Paulding.

That investment extends beyond the building. Led by Paulding Branch Manager Abby Hornish, Union Bank has built a team with local roots and relationships, serving the people and businesses of our community.

For a small community, investments like these matter. Union Bank didn’t simply open a branch — they became part of what’s already here, preserving a piece of downtown while investing in its future.

Child Care Support That Works for Families and Employers

Ohio Child Care Cred Program

Reliable child care can impact employee attendance, retention, and productivity. Ohio’s Child Care Cred program may help employers support working families while strengthening their workforce.

How it can help employers:

  • Support employee recruitment and retention
  • Reduce missed work and schedule disruptions
  • Show employees you understand the challenges working families face
  • Offer a shared-cost benefit without covering the full cost alone

How the program works:

  • Employee contributes a portion
  • Employer contributes a portion
  • State of Ohio helps cover a portion

Who should look into this:

  • Employers with working parents on staff
  • Businesses struggling with attendance or retention
  • Companies looking for family-friendly benefits
  • Employers wanting a practical way to support their team

Applications close May 1, 2027.
