2027 Stewardship Campaign

On October 18th we kicked off our Stewardship campaign for 2027. Please take a moment to consider these words from Dr Jay:

Praying about My Pledge

Shortly after I started at this church, I think it was in the first month, I paid my annual pledge to our church. Now I am praying and thinking about my pledge for 2027. I know that some ministers do not make a financial pledge to the church they are serving. But that has never made sense to me. God has blessed me and God’s generosity inspires me to be thankful and to want to give some of what has been given to me. I am still thinking about this. My pledge card will be turned in on November 22nd. I hope you are also thinking about and praying about your pledge.

By now you should have received your Stewardship packet. Please Note: If you would like to receive a copy of this year's proposed budget to review, please contact the Church Office. Please prayerfully consider your pledge commitment for 2027 and return the commitment card to the church by November 22nd.

**Your pledge is critical to our Annual Budget **

We need your support - Please give generously.

On November 22nd, we will dedicate the cards and rededicate ourselves to fulfill the ministry and mission of this church that means so much to all of us. We trust that, with your help, we can continue to be a beacon of hope and faith in our community.

Thank you!

Message from Dr. Jay

Healing Words for Each of Us from Dr Jay

Last Sunday the sermon was based on the Beatitudes in Luke 6: 17-21. I came upon these words paraphrasing Jesus written by Macrina Wiederkehr. They feel to me like a healing balm:

Blessed are those who are...emptied of all that doesn’t matter, those for whom the riches of this world just aren’t important. The reign of God is theirs.

Blessed are those who wear compassion like a garment. For they too shall receive comfort.

Blessed are the creators of peace, those who build roads that unite rather than walls that divide, those who bless the world with the healing power of their presence. For they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are those whose love has been tried, like gold in the furnace, and found precious, genuine and lasting, those who have lived their belief out loud, no matter what the cost or pain.

TONIGHT!

SPECIAL GUEST – DOUG WILLIAMS

Dr Jay would like to invite you to participate in a discussion with Doug Williams a retired clinical psychologist and painter. He has developed an interest in painting portraits of individuals who are transgender and displaying them with part of that person’s ‘story’. Some of our delegates to the Southern New England conference meeting met him and saw some of his artwork. In discussions with the people reading the book Theo of Golden, there were interesting connections between what Williams is doing and the fictional character in the book Theo. You do not need to read the book! Come to learn and share and listen and grow. WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 28th at 6:30 PM in the Library. Park in the front lot and enter that main door.

TRUNK OR TREAT

PELC hosted their 5th annual TRUNK-OR-TREAT on October 24th with an incredible turnout. Thank you to the church family who stopped by to support and enjoy this fun event.

Special THANKS to Nicole & Gina for their adorable Cookie Monster trunk!

TRANSITION TALKS

As a congregation we are in what is called an interim time, an in-between settled minister’s time, a time of transition. Dr Jay is planning a series of after worship Second Hour gatherings for focused conversations about this time. These will be conversations that will be candid, faithful, and open to all. We will share memories and opinions; we will pray for wisdom and guidance.

The final Transitional Talk of this series will be held November 8th after worship.
