As we welcome November, our advisory lessons will focus on the theme of gratefulness. Students will have opportunities to share what they are grateful for through class discussions, create a schoolwide gratitude chain, and write a letter to someone who has made a difference in their lives. Encouraging students to pause and reflect on what they are thankful for helps foster empathy, resilience, and a stronger connection with others.

This month, we will also take time to honor Veterans Day and express our appreciation for the men and women who have served our country. Their dedication and courage remind us of the freedoms we enjoy each day. In observance of Veterans Day, school will be closed on Monday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 11. We encourage families to take time together to reflect on the importance of service and gratitude in our community.

Students were excited to launch their soda bottle rockets in their club this month!

The AI Robotics Workshop

The AI Robotics Workshop offers students a great opportunity to explore engineering, artificial intelligence, and use teamwork in a fun and hands-on way!  Over the next several months, students will build and program a robotic arm to complete AI-assisted challenges — learning problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation along the way. The club is led by our Technology Coordinator, Daria Miller, and is provided by a partnership with UC San Diego School of Computing, Information, and Data Science.

Pride Alliance Club

The Pride Alliance Club, debuting this week, will be a supportive, safe, and accepting place for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies. This club will focus on allowing individuals to share and find community. Everyone is welcome to attend! Meetings will be weekly on Thursdays in Mx. Rachel’s classroom during lunch, and meetings will be hosted by counselor Mx. Mars. We hope to see you there!

Important Information for Winston Seniors:

  • If you plan to attend college in Fall 2026, your FAFSA should be filed before the priority deadline of March 2, 2026—but the sooner, the better!
    Click
    here to begin!

Helpful Tips:

FAFSA is Required for Free Tuition at Community Colleges:

  • Regardless of parental income, all students must complete the FAFSA to qualify for two years of free tuition at a community college.

You May Qualify for Additional Aid:

  • Filing the FAFSA takes as little as 20 minutes.
  • With the increased income threshold for California's Middle-Class Scholarship, more families than ever may qualify for financial assistance.

Parent and Student Accounts Are Required:

  • Both you and your student must create separate FAFSA accounts and link them using a PIN.

For additional guidance, check out the slideshow linked here with detailed information about the application process and financial aid opportunities.

💗 Join Us in Supporting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk!

The Winston community will cheer on participants of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk as they travel through Del Mar! We’ll be heading up to the main road to show our support and pass out orange juice to the walkers.

We’re looking for orange juice donations to help fuel the cause and keep spirits high. Every small gesture makes a big difference in supporting those impacted by breast cancer and raising awareness for this important mission.

Let’s show our Winston spirit and join together for a great cause! Remember to wear pink on November 14th!
