Urge Your State Senator to Vote YES on the PROTECT Act

Terrific news: Once again, your steadfast commitment to protecting our immigrant relatives, friends, neighbors and communities being terrorized by the federal administration has achieved results.

The Massachusetts Senate will vote on the PROTECT Act, S.3072, An Act promoting the rule of law, oversight, trust, and equal constitutional treatment on Thursday, May 7.

The Senate’s PROTECT Act shares key provisions with the House version:

  • Bans new 287(g) agreements
  • Limits informal collaboration with ICE
  • Prevents civil arrests inside courthouses

The Senate bill also expands on and adds the following:

  • Prevents civil arrests in safe spaces including childcare facilities, public schools, some healthcare providers, and houses of worship during services
  • Prohibits many specific forms of informal collaboration and information-sharing with ICE
  • Allows lawsuits to be brought in state court for violation of US constitutional rights
