What We've Been Up To...

Hello Leaders!

As we move into April, we’re building on a powerful start to the year at Future Leaders California. The past two months have been filled with meaningful connections, youth leadership development, and experiences that continue to shape the future of our scholars.

Future Leaders Brunch

Lancaster, CA | February 21, 2026

Our annual Future Leaders Brunch brought together more than 25 students for an inspiring experience centered on career exposure, leadership development, and mentorship.

Featured keynote speakers:

Dr. Jezelle Fullwood (Education)
Keitha Pinckney (Medical Field)
Bishop Henry Hearns (Engineering)

Students gained real-world insight into navigating career pathways as BIPOC professionals while participating in interactive workshops focused on leadership styles, communication, and confidence-building.

Key Takeaways:

Success is not linear
Relationships and mentorship matter
Representation makes goals feel achievable

This event continues to serve as a powerful reminder that when students see what’s possible, they begin to believe it for themselves.

March in Motion

CASCWA State Conference

Sacramento, CA | March 16-18, 2026

Future Leaders California proudly presented Project Elevate, our approach to addressing chronic absenteeism through mentorship, accountability, and holistic support.

Our message was clear:

Attendance isn’t just a number — it’s a signal.

We highlighted how challenges like housing instability and mental health impact student attendance, and emphasized that real solutions require relationships, consistency, and community support.

Just Us Arts Gala

Lancaster, CA | March 21, 2026

The Just Us Arts Gala celebrated creativity, storytelling, and youth voice. Through performances and artistic expression, students demonstrated how art can be a powerful tool for healing, identity, and empowerment.

This year's celebration welcomed students, alumni, and families from the past 10 years of Justice Sunday plays!

Congratulations to Nigel and Shania, honored as our first ever Justice Sunday Junior Alumni! The dedication of these young leaders inspires us all every day!
