Special Coverage: Solar eclipse

On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse will darken a swath of North America in the middle of the day, a cosmic event that is generating buzz, travel plans and watch parties from Mexico to Maine and beyond. NPR is planning special coverage during Here & Now, from 1 - 3 p.m. CT. Tune in as reporters capture the wonder of eclipse viewers across the country, and learn the science of eclipses as well. KGOU will also cover the preparations being made for the influx of visitors to southeastern Oklahoma, which is in the path of totality.

Spring fundraising: A season for growing

Watercolor illustration of daisies blowing in the wind A season for growing

You might be aware that strong headwinds are facing news organizations, the radio industry, and the nonprofit sector. KGOU is squarely in the middle of that storm! So, this spring, growing our ranks of listener-supporters is our focus.

One of KGOU's business supporters, Calvert's Plant Interiors, is offering a new incentive this spring: a voucher for $20 off any purchase. You can request the voucher as a thank-you gift at the $15 per month level.

To be sustainable, KGOU needs a wide base of support from the communities we serve. Begin or renew your support, and help make sure KGOU can withstand the winds of a changing media landscape.

All thank-you gifts

A Conversation With... Thomas Stafford

A native of Weatherford, Okla., Tom Stafford was a trailblazer – one of the world's great explorers. His first three NASA spaceflights were critical to the success of the American space program's moon landings in the 1960s. To commemorate his exceptional life, KGOU will re-broadcast a 2010 episode of OETA's A Conversation With... Thomas Stafford on Sunday, March 24 at 12 p.m. as our Sunday Radio Matinee.

KGOU Readers Club: American Eclipse by David Baron

book cover American Eclipse by David Baron

On a July afternoon in 1878, at the dawn of the Gilded Age and the height of the Wild West, the moon's shadow descended on the American frontier, darkening skies from Montana Territory to Texas. In an era of train robberies and Indian hostilities, scientists grabbed their telescopes and raced to the West. American Eclipse chronicles the epic tale of the total solar eclipse of 1878, and author David Baron joins KGOU's Logan Layden for our next Readers Club discussion. Tune in Monday, April 1 at 1 p.m.

NPR Series: The Science of Siblings

We often take our sibling relationships for granted, but there's a growing body of research that reveals how those relationships can have a profound impact on everything about us – from our molecules to the choices we make in life. In a series called the Science of Siblings, NPR correspondents will explore the power and the perils of siblinghood. Stories will run on Morning Edition and All Things Considered April 2 through April 10, which is National Siblings Day. Additional stories will air throughout the spring.
