Connecting Domestic Violence Survivors to Ongoing Support
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, an opportunity to recognize survivors, raise awareness of available services, and reaffirm the community’s commitment to preventing domestic violence.
Behind every domestic violence call for police service is an ongoing commitment to connect survivors with timely information, essential resources, and compassionate support. Much of this work is led by the City of Arlington’s Domestic Violence Coordinator, who helps ensure survivors can access safety planning, advocacy, referrals, and continued support beyond the initial police response.
Domestic Violence Coordinator Accomplishments to Date This Year:
- Made 1,848 contacts by text, email, and phone with survivors, law enforcement officers, and prosecutors.
- Reviewed and worked on 141 criminal domestic violence cases and 172 verbal domestic violence incidents.
- Met with 37 community members in person to provide resources and case-related updates.
The Arlington Police Department is also grateful to the officers who share concerns, participate in interviews, and identify people who may benefit from additional assistance. Their partnership with the Domestic Violence Coordinator helps strengthen support for survivors and contributes to safer outcomes across our community.

Snohomish PUD Launches Peak Assist Program to Help Reduce Energy Demand
Snohomish County PUD is inviting customers to participate in its new Peak Assist Program, a voluntary initiative designed to help reduce electricity use during periods of high demand.
Through small, temporary changes in energy use, participants can help reduce stress on the electric grid, support reliable electric service and advance clean-energy goals across the community.
Participation is simple and flexible. Peak Assist events will be called no more than twice per month and typically last two to three hours. Customers decide whether they are able to participate in each event, with no changes to their PUD rate.
The program will begin January 1, 2027. Customers who enroll can receive text and email notifications the day before an event, at the start of an event and when the event ends. During an event, participants are encouraged to reduce electricity use if they are able. Afterward, they can complete a short survey, which remains available for three days.
Bill Credit Opportunities
Customers who enroll and complete post-event surveys may qualify for several bill-credit opportunities:
- $25 enrollment bill credit: Participants can receive a one-time $25 bill credit after enrolling and completing their first post-event survey.
- Monthly bill credit drawings: Eight participants each month will be selected to receive a $50 bill credit. Participants may receive one monthly bill credit per program year.
- End-of-year bill credit drawings: Twenty-five participants who remain enrolled and complete event surveys will be selected to receive a $200 bill credit.
To participate, customers can log in to their MySnoPUD account and select the Peak Assist Program option. Official program rules are available through Snohomish PUD.

Share Your Input on the Swift Gold Line
Community members in Arlington are invited to help shape the preliminary design of the proposed Swift Gold Line bus rapid transit route.
Community Transit is seeking public input through November 15, on plans for the new 15-mile route, which would connect downtown Everett, downtown Marysville, and Smokey Point in Arlington. The Swift Gold Line is expected to begin service as soon as 2031, with construction anticipated to start in 2028.
The proposed line would be the fourth route in Community Transit’s Swift bus rapid transit network. Preliminary designs include potential dedicated, center-running bus lanes in some areas to support reliable transit service while preserving general-purpose through-lanes for vehicle traffic.
Community members can visit Community Transit’s Online Open House to view preliminary station, sidewalk, roadway, and bus-lane designs. The online materials also include animations showing how center-running transit lanes and stations could be integrated into the roadway.
Residents can share feedback in several ways:
Survey participants who are Snohomish County residents age 18 or older may enter for a chance to win a $200 prize. The survey and sweepstakes close November 15, 2026. Terms and restrictions are available at ctgo.org/sweepstakes.
About Swift Bus Rapid Transit
Swift buses provide frequent service, operating every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 15–20 minutes during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Features such as all-door boarding, signal priority, transit lanes, and real-time arrival information help reduce travel time and improve reliability.
Swift fares are the same as other Community Transit bus fares. Riders can pay with an ORCA card or purchase a ticket at the station before boarding. Swift service is accessible for people using wheelchairs, strollers, carts, bikes, and other mobility devices.

Cleaner Air Starts with Cleaner Equipment
Diesel-powered vehicles and equipment are a familiar part of many worksites, but they can also contribute to air pollution and higher operating costs.
Electric vehicles and equipment offer a cleaner alternative. They produce no tailpipe emissions during operation, can help reduce exposure to diesel exhaust for employees and community members, and may cost less to operate and maintain over time.
Puget Sound Clean Air Agency offers information and resources for businesses, fleets and organizations interested in replacing diesel-powered equipment with cleaner alternatives.
