BCSO Public Safety Camp

Young people from across the region explored the exciting world of public safety during the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Public Safety Discovery Camp, held July 6-10 at Southside Virginia Community College.

Designed to be both educational and interactive, the week-long camp introduced participants to a variety of careers in public safety while equipping them with valuable life-saving skills they can use to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.

Throughout the week, campers participated in hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and engaging presentations led by law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and other first responders. These experiences provided an inside look at the teamwork, professionalism, and commitment required to serve in public safety careers.

The camp was made possible through a partnership between Southside Virginia Community College and the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office. Dr. Alfonzo Seward, SVCC Special Assistant to the President for Legislative and Community Outreach, worked alongside the Sheriff's Office to bring this unique opportunity to the college, helping introduce local youth to rewarding career pathways while strengthening community connections.
