Hello Chi Cheng

September is a month of transition and change. Summer gives way to Fall, the leaves begin to change, and kids go back to school.

Lucky for me, we spent the first two weeks this September on holiday in Bali, Indonesia and Singapore. A very long awaited break for rest and relaxation...

We were able to check-off a few items on our "bucket list". My husband Emil learnt to surf the world-famous waves at Uluwatu and Keramas, and the entire family enjoyed the noise and excitement of Formula One motor racing in Singapore.

It's been 25 years since we last visited Bali. The main towns are now more commercialized and the traffic has gotten much worse. Nonetheless, the scenery is just as alluring and the vibes oh sooo relaxing..

Enjoying the serene Bali scenery amidst these beautiful rice paddies.

The family enjoyed the spectacular Formula One night race in Singapore.

Coffee tasting in Bali ... Drinking unique Luwak Coffee and delicious Mangosteen teas, etc...

SEPTEMBER Birthstone:

BLUE SAPPHIRE

♥ Luck ♥ Loyalty ♥ Happiness ♥ Love ♥

Sapphire is September's birthstone. It is also traditionally gifted on 5th and 45th wedding anniversaries. Blue sapphire is said to bring luck, loyalty, happiness and love. Its symbolism and durability make it ideal for engagement rings.

In old Persian lore, the Earth was said to be balanced on top of an enormous sapphire and its reflection gave the sky its blue colour. The ancient Greeks and Romans also claimed blue sapphires held mystical powers, giving their owners wisdom and health. In the Middle Ages, blue sapphires were often worn by royalty as amulets to ward off evil.

Where are Sapphires mined?

Sapphires are mined in about twenty different countries including China, Madagascar and Australia. But Thai sapphires are very sought after because of their high quality, and the country’s modern, ethical mining practices.

OCTOBER Birthstones:

OPAL and PINK TOURMALINE

♥ Emotions ♥ Creativity ♥ Love ♥ Sympathy ♥

OPAL: the gemstone of emotions and creativity

The Spiritual and Healing Properties of Opal

Opals have long been associated with spiritual and healing properties. In ancient times, opals were believed to have the power to protect against evil and enhance the wearer’s vision and creativity. They were also believed to have healing properties and were used to treat a variety of ailments, including eye problems and digestive issues.

Today, many people still believe in the spiritual and healing properties of opals. They are thought to help with emotional healing, enhance intuition, and promote a sense of inner peace and calm. Opals are also believed to be beneficial for the skin and can be used in skincare products to promote healthy, glowing skin.

PINK TOURMALINE represents a love of humanity and humanitarianism.

It is worn to promote sympathy towards others.

Meaning & Energy

Pink Tourmaline is a stone of love, compassion, emotional healing and self love. It helps to calm one's emotions in times of distress, and is the perfect stone to carry if you suffer from daily bouts of anxiety. This stone is considered a strong healing stone as it is commonly formed within Quartz masses. Quartz naturally amplifies any stone placed near it, so we regularly recommend Pink Tourmaline to anyone suffering from heavy emotional pain weighing on the heart. For people who have recently gone through a tragedy, heartbreak, loss of a loved one, or simply can't kick that daily depression, Pink Tourmaline is the stone for you.

Queen Elizabeth's “The Andamooka Opal” necklace

In 1954, when the South Australian Government wanted to present Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II a gift in honour of her Royal visit to Australia, they turned to Altmann + Cherny to find an Australian Opal of exceptional beauty and quality. The finest gem crystal Opal ever mined at the Andamooka opal fields was selected and then John Altmann cut and polished this rare gem into 6 stones. The South Australian Government purchased 5 of these stones which were then made into a necklace, earrings and cufflinks. “The Andamooka Opal”, as the necklace became known, was on display at Buckingham Palace in 2009, where Claire Altmann was fortunate to see these amazing opals which her father had lovingly cut and polished 55 years previously. John Altmann always maintained it was the finest opal he had ever polished. The 6th opal cut from this incredible piece of rough Opal was sold to a private collector from Chicago, U.S.A.

Jane fell in love with the idea of stacking rings and she wanted to give her old diamond and sapphire ring a new life. - So that she can have fun wearing them, I transformed the old ring into 3 new ones!.

Mix, match & stack

Anna had many heirlooms pieces from Mom and her Aunt as well as pieces from her childhood ... we worked on the most important pieces to her so that she can play with these new stacking creations.
