It is a new year, the time when we all make plans for what we want to accomplish during the next 12 months. At this point, the sky is the limit.

The road to most things of real value is bumpy, full of ruts and even uncharted detours. For some, they are seen, simply, as bumps in the road to be overcome. For others, an unscalable mountain or a canyon too wide to be crossed. Still others won’t even begin the venture, from the beginning, letting unseen and unknown obstacles stop them with the famous “Yes but, what if - - -“ statements stopping them before they ever get started.

Most obstacles, in our minds, seem far worse than they really are when confronted directly. Most of us have lived many years and, in our lifetimes, overcome numerous, seemingly impossible, obstacles.

As the late Zig Ziglar, an American author, salesman, and motivational speaker puts it: “When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal; you do not change your decision to get there.

Have a happy, safe, and successful new year with that success being whatever you want it to be.
