LOSHRS RACE 4 BRAVO ZULU

Bravo Zulu to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton, Prescott Coast Guard Radio, and Toronto Search and Rescue Marine (T-SAR)

For their teamwork in assisting a competitor during LOSHRS Race 4 after the boat experienced rudder problems. Thankfully, everyone aboard was safe.

We often forget that these organizations, along with local marine police units, the Canadian Coast Guard, and members of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Central and Arctic, are on call around the clock to respond to emergencies on the water involving boaters, including LOOR racers.

Much of the coverage on Lake Ontario is provided by volunteer members of the Auxiliary. We should not remember them only when they assist us. As volunteer organizations, they need our support to continue operating. Financial support from boaters is greatly appreciated and is an investment in our future safety.

When you have the opportunity, please thank them and everyone else who contributes to safety on the water, including sponsors such as C-TOW.

Learn “How Search and Rescue Operations Work on Lake Ontario:” on the T-SAR web site.

Be prepared! Have your plans in place and information ready before you go in case you suddenly need them!
