UPPER SCHOOL SPIRIT WEEK FAQs!

Parents and students,

Thank you all so much for your enthusiasm to participate in our dress-up days and your eagerness to stay within guidelines! We hope that these FAQs (with guidelines below) will help you as you make final plans for your Spirit Week outfits. Thank you for joining in the Great-Hearted fun!!

Q: On Monday’s Monochromatic Day, can I wear blue jeans?

A: Students can only wear the color of their class! So if you are in 7th grade, you could wear yellow pants and a yellow shirt, and yellow shoes. But if you do not have yellow for a specific part of the outfit, just wear your uniform for that part! This means many of our students will just wear their class’s shirt color with uniform pants and shoes. That is an easy way to participate in the fun!

Q: For Tuesday, Tropical Tuesday, what can I wear that is tropical?

A: You could wear a tropical shirt, pants, or shorts (not bathing suit type and must go to the knee). Ladies could wear tropical maxi dresses; please just follow typical uniform/dance guidelines. You can always wear your uniform bottoms with “tropical accessories”. No gym shorts, swim trunks or running skirts.

Q: For Wednesday, Anchored in Tradition, can I wear red, white, or blue pants?

A: Yes, you can, but no blue jeans. They must match the theme colors! Think stripes and anchors. If you, for example, do not have red, white, or blue pants, then you should wear your uniform pants/skirt with a themed shirt.

Q: For Glow with the Flow, can I wear neon pajamas?

A: No, Pajamas are not allowed on any day, per the General Guidelines for Dress Up Days. If you do not have bright neon clothing, just wear that part of your uniform or accesorize with neon.

Q: For Spirit Day, can I wear plain jeans and a Spirit shirt?

A: No. You can wear a Spirit Shirt! Anyone in Upper School can wear Spirited pants/overalls, but not simply plain jeans. They must be Griffin-ified by being painted with “GHNO” or “Griffins.” (This is something our Upperclassmen tend to do, but we also allow it for middle school students who choose to have spirit pants/overalls.) Shoes must be in uniform or “Griffin/GHNO”-themed.

HOMECOMING 2026
