MUSKOGEE, OKLA., March 27, 2024 - Muskogee City Manager Mike Miller recently earned the prestigious Accredited Manager certification, awarded by the City Management Association of Oklahoma, solidifying his commitment to excellence in city management.
The Accredited Manager Program, which requires a total of 40 credit hours to earn the designation, consists of 25 core hours and 15 elective hours. Among the mandatory core courses that participants must complete, are topics such as finance, ethics, personnel, general government, and leadership. Elective options range from planning/zoning and conflict resolution to economic development and customer service.
In response to his achievement, Miller shared his enthusiasm for the program's benefits, stating, "The AMP certification has been an invaluable opportunity to enhance my skills and knowledge in various aspects of city management. I am grateful for the support of the City of Muskogee in pursuing this certification and eager to use this knowledge to make my neighbors lives better every day."
While individuals aspiring to a career in city management can enroll in the program, full accreditation as an Accredited Manager requires a minimum of two years of experience as an assistant city manager or city manager. During this period, the accreditation will remain pending until the necessary experience is obtained.
To uphold the AMP certification, managers must complete 10 hours of approved courses every two years.

Miller, who has served in city management for the City of Muskogee for eight years, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University and a Master’s degree from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas.
