From the Headmaster's Desk

Hello St. Michael Community,

October was a wonderful month of learning and growth here at St. Michael School. Behind the scenes, much progress continues to take place. A member of our community has joyfully accepted the commission to design and create our House Crests, which will soon adorn our halls. We continue to work through prospective faculty candidates for the academy, have seen more families connecting regarding enrollment, and have made steady progress on many other important tasks.

On a personal note, the Henley family joyfully welcomed a new member—Samuel Peter Henley, born on October 28. We are so grateful for your prayers and kindness during this special time. Everyone is doing well, and we are truly thankful for the support of our wonderful community.

Looking ahead, we invite you to join us for “The Adventure of Truth” on December 5, featuring Dale Ahlquist, a dynamic and engaging speaker. On November 10, I will travel to visit the Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph in Dayton, and on November 19, we will host Meet the Headmaster, an opportunity for prospective students to complete their interviews.

In the new year, we are hosting a Supper with Sophomores event—an evening for families of current freshmen to learn more about joining our school as sophomores for the 2026–2027 school year.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support for both my family and our growing school community.

God bless,

David Henley

St. Michael the Archangel Chesterton Academy, Headmaster

Ohio March for Life

Mr. Henley and some of our eighth grade SMS students at St. Joseph Cathedral

Youth from St. Michael the Archangel Parish with Bishop Thomas

On October 3, Mr. Henley accompanied members of our eighth-grade class to Columbus for the Ohio March for Life. This group included several of our incoming Chesterton Academy students. The day began with a special Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral, celebrated by Bishop Earl Fernandes of Columbus and Bishop Daniel Thomas of Toledo. Following Mass, the group joined the rally and march in support of life.

We were joined by many other schools, including the Chesterton Academies of Columbus and Dayton. We look forward to seeing our participation in this important event continue to grow in the years ahead as our Chesterton Academy students stand together in witness to the dignity of life.

The Ohio March for Life is an annual event held in Columbus that brings together individuals, families, schools, and faith communities from across the state to publicly witness to the dignity and sanctity of every human life. Modeled after the national March for Life in Washington, D.C., this peaceful rally and march invite participants to stand in solidarity for the protection of the unborn and to promote a culture of life rooted in love and respect for all people. The event typically includes inspiring speakers, prayer, and fellowship, offering participants an opportunity to unite their voices in support of pro-life values and to encourage continued advocacy within their local communities.

Chesterton Academy Book Study:

The members of our board are reading G.K. Chesterton's book, St. Francis, for their monthly discussion. They will be reading the second chapter before the next meeting.

We encourage others to join us in this reading as we become better acquainted with the life and writings of G.K. Chesterton.
