Senator Weber's Five Towns of Rockland

Blood Drive Challenge

Last week, Orangetown participated in Senator Bill Weber's third-annual Five Towns of Rockland Blood Drive Challenge. This event brought the five towns of Rockland County together for a friendly competition with one important goal—helping save lives through blood donation. Thank you to everyone who came out to donate and support this important cause.

Drowning can happen quickly and often silently. Constant supervision and layers of protection are the most effective ways to prevent tragedies.

Before Swimming

• Never leave children unattended near water.
• Designate a responsible "Water Watcher" whose only job is to supervise swimmers.
• Ensure children and inexperienced swimmers wear properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets when appropriate.
• Learn CPR and basic water rescue skills.
• Make sure pool gates are self-closing and self-latching.

While Swimming

• Stay within arm's reach of young children.
• No running, pushing, horseplay, or rough play around the pool.
• Dive only in designated deep-water areas.
• Follow all posted pool rules and lifeguard instructions.
• Avoid distractions such as phones while supervising swimmers.
