National Public Health Week

During National Public Health Week, we join colleagues across the country in recognizing the essential role public health plays in protecting and improving the health of our communities. This year’s theme, “Ready. Set. Action!”, is a timely reminder that advancing health equity requires both preparation and the willingness to act. At a time when public health systems are facing significant challenges—including policy shifts, funding cuts and strain on the workforce—it is more important than ever to recognize and support the professionals working every day to strengthen the health of our communities.

The mission of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) is to foster the professional development of nurses and others involved in the delivery of healthcare for people vulnerable to, living with and affected by HIV and its co-morbidities, while promoting the health, welfare and rights of people living with HIV worldwide. Much of the work carried out by ANAC members—including HIV prevention, treatment and care, addressing syndemic conditions, reducing stigma and advancing health equity—intersects directly with the goals of public health.

During Public Health Week, we recognize and thank the nurses, clinicians, researchers, advocates and community partners whose work continues to strengthen HIV care and prevention and improve the health and well-being of communities across the globe.
