Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Congratulations to our Festival Team who organized our 2025 Fall Festival Bon Voyage! Our team was lead by co-chairs, Lindsay Doody and Lauren Townsend. And a large team of parents! We are so grateful everyone's dedication and long hours of hard work.

Another one of our teams is our Schola under the direction of Director of Music, Dr. Jeong-A Yum has been diligently rehearsing for the masses of All Soul's Day this weekend. Each year our Schola has prepared a classical music Requiem to accompany the mass on the occasion of the All Soul's Vigil (the origin of Halloween, All Hallows Eve.)

Additionally, our Schola offers a classical musical accompaniment. This year, it is offering the appropriate parts of Mozart's Requiem. All Souls falls on a Sunday, so the Requiem mass will be offered at the Saturday Vigil mass next weekend.

Dr. Yum has chosen Mozart's Requiem, an emotionally stirring choral masterpiece. Mozart died aged 35 on December 5, 1791, before he could complete the work. His health was deteriorating and he believed he had been cursed to write a requiem as a ‘swansong’ for himself, because he was sure he was about to die. Not only beautiful, but a poignant reflection on mystery of life and death in the context of our faith. At mass, we will hear the portions that are part of the mass.

The entire work will be presented at a Concert in collaboration with the choirs of the parishes of St. Monica, St. Victor, and St. Brendan next Friday night (November 7) at St. Brendan's. Please plan on joining us.

Don't forget to inscribe the names of your beloved in our parish Book of the Dead located near the baptismal font. Also, remember to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night before going to bed.

Peace, Father Gil
