Frogfoot Farm Summer Update

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Marion Institute team, a committed group of volunteers, and generous supporters, Frogfoot Farm’s Neighbors Feeding Neighbors initiative has exceeded all expectations in its first full year of production. To date, an impressive 3,219.6 pounds of fresh, local produce has been harvested and delivered to Damien’s Food Pantry, helping to nourish individuals and families across the Southcoast.

Since early spring, the farm has consistently produced and delivered nutrient-rich produce including lettuce, turnips, spinach, kale, collards, radishes, beets, scallions, carrots, parsley, cilantro, Swiss chard, fennel, celery, zucchini, and basil. With summer crops like tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants just starting to peak, and fall plantings coming along beautifully, the harvest is expected to continue through November—helping to serve individuals and families facing food insecurity.

In addition, the Marion Institute launched its Fields to Families Gleaning Program at Frogfoot Farm in June, expanding its efforts to reduce food waste and feed more neighbors in need. Since its debut, the program has gleaned over 1,000 pounds of produce from three local farms and distributed it to six Southcoast food pantries—with more to come.

The A.D. Makepeace Company is proud to partner with the Marion Institute in its mission to address food insecurity through its Farm-to-Food Relief programs. Frogfoot Farm and the Fields to Families Gleaning Program operate on A.D. Makepeace property, and we are honored to support this important work by providing the land and resources. However, all financial and operational responsibilities are carried by the Marion Institute, a dedicated social nonprofit organization. These programs are thriving—and there are many ways to get involved. Community members are encouraged to sign up to volunteer here and support the cause by sponsoring the third annual Boogie at the Bog, a lively fundraiser benefiting Frogfoot Farm.

Together, we can grow a stronger, healthier Southcoast—living the mission of Neighbors Feeding Neighbors every step of the way.
