The Bartholomew County Courthouse, designed by Isaac Hodgson and completed in 1874, features Second Empire architecture and remains largely unchanged. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it boasts well-preserved interiors, including marble floors and a spiral staircase. A 1997 landscape design by Michael Van Valkenburgh complements the courthouse and the nearby Veterans Memorial. The memorial features twenty-five 40-foot limestone pillars, engraved with the names of fallen soldiers and excerpts from their letter, creating a meditative and intimate tribute. |
