Dr. Enrique Iglesias and the CMMC Family Medicine team are celebrating a major accomplishment this year. UnitedHealthcare has honored them with the 2025 United Hero Award, a recognition reserved for clinics that deliver exceptional patient experiences and consistently meet high-performance standards.
This award reflects the team’s dedication to providing compassionate, reliable, and coordinated care for every patient who walks through their doors. Their patient experience survey results demonstrate the strength of that commitment.
- 93% getting needed care
- 91% percent care coordination
- 64% percent doctor patient conversations
These scores highlight the team’s focus on timely access, clear communication, and strong partnerships with patients throughout their care journey.
CMMC is proud to celebrate Dr. Iglesias and his outstanding staff. Their work continues to strengthen our mission of serving the Wilson County community with excellence, empathy, and trust.
| | Connally Memorial Medical Center nationally recognized for commitment to excellence in stroke care | | |
Connally Memorial Medical Center (CMMC) has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Silver Plus quality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring people experiencing stroke receive timely, appropriate treatment based on nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately helping to save lives and reduce disability.
Stroke is the No. 4 cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the U.S, according to the American Heart Association’s 2026 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Report. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel supplying the brain is blocked by a clot or ruptures, preventing blood and oxygen from reaching brain tissue. When this happens, brain cells begin to die. Early detection and rapid treatment are critical to improving survival, minimizing disability and supporting faster recovery.
Get With The Guidelines brings the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association into hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest research- and evidence-based guidelines. Get With The Guidelines - Stroke is an in-hospital program designed to improve stroke care through consistent adherence to these guidelines, which can minimize long-term effects of stroke and help prevent death.
“CMMC is committed to improving patient care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines,” Trey Maxey, CMMC Stroke/Trauma Coordinator. “Get With The Guidelines helps our teams put proven science into practice every day. Research shows this approach can support better recovery, with the ultimate goal of helping people in Wilson County live longer, healthier lives.”
Each year, participating hospitals qualify for the award by demonstrating how their organization has committed to providing quality stroke care. In addition to following clinical treatment guidelines, Get With The Guidelines participants also provide education to help people manage their recovery and ongoing health at home.
“We are proud to recognize CMMC for its commitment to caring for people experiencing stroke,” said Steven Messe, M.D., volunteer chair of the American Heart Association Stroke System of Care Advisory Group. “Participation in Get With The Guidelines is associated with improved patient outcomes, including greater likelihood of being discharged home, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates — a meaningful benefit for health care systems, families and communities.”

Connally Memorial Medical Center celebrates Spiritual Care Week with the theme “Healing through Presence and Grace.”
In our rural healthcare system, where resources can be stretched and distances long, your presence has been a beacon of hope. You have shown that spiritual care is not just a service; it is a ministry of presence and a quiet strength that meets people in their most vulnerable moments. Whether listening with empathy, providing support, or offering resources, you embody compassion in its purest form.
Throughout the year, we have walked alongside patients, families, and staff through moments of joy, grief, uncertainty, and healing. Our presence has served as a reminder that spiritual care was not confined to walls or titles, but flowed from hearts dedicated to serving others.
On behalf of our healthcare community, thank you for giving your time, your energy, and your love without expectation. You are the soul of our care, and your service is a gift beyond measure.
May this celebration of Spiritual Care bring you happiness and gratitude for every life you have touched.

Connally Memorial Medical Center had an incredible time celebrating the Peanut Festival alongside our community! From promoting health and safety to supporting local traditions, our team was proud to be involved in several events throughout the weekend.
CMMC was designated as the primary hospital should any medical needs arise. This was a great honor, and in the months leading up to the event, CMMC collaborated closely with Wilson County Emergency Management and local Emergency Services Districts (ESDs), first responders, and festival organizers to review emergency response procedures, assess potential needs, and coordinate medical coverage plans. These collaborative efforts allowed our team to enhance staffing levels, coordinate resources, and ensure readiness throughout the celebration. By working alongside our community partners, Connally Memorial Medical Center was prepared to respond quickly and effectively should medical assistance be needed, providing festival attendees with an added level of safety, comfort, and peace of mind.
The festivities began with CMMC preparing and distributing eight first aid kits throughout the festival grounds. Each kit was stocked with essential items including ice packs, ibuprofen, Benadryl, electrolyte packets, triple antibiotic ointment, gauze sponges, alcohol prep pads, assorted bandages, and feminine hygiene products. These resources were utilized throughout the festival and helped provide quick access to basic first aid for attendees, reinforcing our commitment to the community's health and well-being.
During the Goober Games, CMMC provided free flu vaccinations inside the American Legion Hall. Thanks to the dedication of our staff, we were able to provide more than 110 free flu vaccinations to community members. A special thank you to Sue, Shannon, Sky, Michael, Ashley, Crystal, Tessa, and Meranda for administering these vaccinations, and thank you to Henelee for volunteering your time to assist with the disbursement as well! In addition, CMMC sponsored a petting zoo, creating a fun and memorable experience for families throughout the day.
CMMC was honored to be represented by Cheyenne Hall and Jeremiah Picard during the Peanut Festival. Cheyenne, a senior at Floresville ISD and participant in the CMMC Health Science Program, has a strong interest in sports medicine and currently serves as Vice President of her Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) chapter. Jeremiah, also a student at Floresville ISD, proudly served as her escort. We are grateful to both students for representing Connally Memorial Medical Center and wish them continued success in their future educational and professional endeavors.
The celebration continued with the CMMC Home Health team participating in both the Kiddie Parade and the Grand Parade. Their creativity, hard work, and attention to detail paid off as they earned the title of Grand Champion in the Kiddie Parade and secured Second Place in the Grand Parade. We are incredibly proud of our Home Health team and appreciative of the effort they put into creating such outstanding floats. Congratulations on these well-deserved accomplishments, and we can’t wait to see what they create for next year’s festival!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's festival a tremendous success, and thank you to the Floresville Peanut Festival Association for all they do to VOLUNTEER to put this festival on! We look forward to continuing to serve and celebrate with our community for years to come.
| | CMMC Partners with Floresville Christian Fellowship for Pink with a Purpose | | |
CMMC was honored to partner with Floresville Christian Fellowship Church for their 5th Annual Pink with a Purpose Celebration in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. In this partnership, Connally Memorial Medical Center and Floresville Christian Fellowship Church provided $50 vouchers which would go toward ones screened mammogram scheduled at CMMC during the month of October.
CMMC looks forward to attending the 6th Annual Pink with a Purpose celebration next year and we are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside those affected by breast cancer along with support a cause that touches so many lives!

Positive Thought
This is a time of year for release, finding beauty in darkness, and turning to our body's inner warmth as the days grow cooler. Tending to your body helps you get the most out of this season. Giving yourself even just a little alone time will help with the current cycle of transition and transformation. Honor the energy you have, and not the energy you think you should have. It may seem selfish; however, it will bless you and all those you know.
Even the Creator rested on the seventh day!
