FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

Honoring our Fallen

It's tragic that over Labor Day weekend - the traditional end of summer - we are honoring and remembering our 13 soldiers who died last week at the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan. America is ending a 20-year war in Afghanistan, and we hope without causing more decline in the United States' reputation as a global super-power. Our allies must have confidence in us.

While remembering these heroes, it is fitting and proper that we should also remember the importance of "virtuous courage," which, according to our Contributor, Os Guinness, is a cornerstone of true character. These soldiers embodied this indispensable virtue, resulting in the ultimate sacrifice. Our freedom and prosperity would be impossible without soldiers such as these.
Never Forget.
According to Dr. Guinness, virtue is part of the "Golden Triangle" that sustains the freedom we hold so dear. There is no better time than now to watch and reflect on these thoughts. It's a short PC video classic (3:35):

Listening to people espouse beliefs different than mine
is informative, not threatening,
because the only thing that can alter my worldview
is a new and undeniable truth, and contrary to what
Jack Nicholson says in "A Few Good men,"
"I CAN handle the truth."

Michael J. Fox (actor)
