from Jodi

While summer may be winding down, the fun in Harford County is still in full swing! Our calendar is packed with exciting events and experiences to enjoy with family, friends, and visiting guests.

August is the perfect time to explore our local farmers markets, where peak-season produce is at its best, or enjoy one of the many outdoor music series happening throughout the county, including Sundays in Bel Air’s Shamrock Park and performances at Historic Jerusalem Mill Village.

Unique festivals continue all month long, including the 9th Annual Arts, Wine, Jazz & Soul Festival on August 8 at Concord Point Park, the Under the Sea Bash in Aberdeen on August 22, the Havre de Grace Bike Festival, Celtic Festival, and Caribbean & Soul Music Festival during the final weekend of August. Don’t forget our monthly First Fridays happening in Bel Air and Havre de Grace!

There are so many reasons to get outside, explore, and make the most of these beautiful summer days. We hope you’ll take time to discover something new in Harford County!

See you soon!

Pro-tip of the Month

Back to Basics

Technology makes it easy to create an event flyer or social media graphic and hit "publish" in no time. Here’s how you can make sure it includes the essential information your customers need. Create a simple checklist with the 4Ws: Who, What, Where, and When. Always include your organization's name, the event location, address, date, time, and clear details about what attendees can expect. Also, take a quick look at the imagery and overall design to ensure it matches the event you're promoting. Including all the basics is the best way to create clear, effective marketing that helps your audience and your event succeed.

Venue Spotlight

The WSB Entertainment Museum

This month's Venue Spotlight shines on the WSB Entertainment Museum in downtown Havre de Grace, one of Harford’s unique cultural attractions. Celebrating the art of film, television, and entertainment, the museum offers visitors an opportunity to experience screen-used costumes, props, memorabilia, and behind-the-scenes stories from some of Hollywood's most iconic productions.

On August 1, the museum is expanding with the grand opening of Gallery One, featuring the debut of The Costumes of The Hunger Games exhibition. The exhibit showcases 60 – 80 original screen-used costumes from the first four Hunger Games films, along with screen-used weaponry, prop prototypes, and other film memorabilia that offer a fascinating look at the artistry and craftsmanship behind the blockbuster franchise.

Congratulations to the WSB Entertainment Museum on this exciting milestone! If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind cultural experience, the WSB Entertainment Museum is a must-visit destination in Harford County.

Fun Fact

Long before it became a favorite destination for paddlers, anglers, and boaters, the Gunpowder River helped shape Maryland's history. Named for the gunpowder mills that once operated along its banks, the river played a vital role in supplying munitions during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Today, it continues to be one of Harford County's most popular destinations for outdoor recreation and scenic waterfront experiences.
