Praise God for Station # 2!

Strong Tower Radio (STR) began broadcasting in December 2009 from a 2kW station in Cadillac. Then God directed the ministry to purchase a 50 kW station in the UP, licensed to Newberry, Michigan, 97.9 FM, WIHC (We’re In His Care). This signal also reaches many listeners in the greater Sault Ste. Marie, and Ontario, Canada region.

We’ve shared previously how listener Miles Trowbridge was connected with STR through a friend who rode in his truck. That friend’s friend tuned the radio to STR and started a transformation in Miles’ life.

Joanne Dubreil, from northeast of Wawa, picked up the signal while driving to and from Sault Ste. Marie. As a result she attended consecutive evangelistic series announced on STR, and was baptized thereafter.

My wife Jodi and I visited Canada two years ago to speak at several churches in the STR coverage area. After stopping at a Walmart, we walked out to our truck adorned with bright yellow and black STR door magnets. A young couple parked near us ran over to ask, “Are you with this radio program?” When we said that we were, they thanked us for the wonderful programs. They listened regularly and said they were very blessed.

In the Michigan coverage area, we shared the testimony of Stacy Hoig-Kimbler, who began listening to STR after her usual station went off the air for a couple of days. She began listening on her daily commute. After three years, Stacy walked into the McMillan SDA church and found a new family. She is now an active member at McMillan Northwoods church and praises God for “finding her a truth-filled church that feels like home, even though we’re not in heaven yet.”

Several dedicated truck drivers, including Dennis Smith and John Tompkins, listened to the Newberry station for years while driving in the eastern UP from downstate. The Holy Spirit prompted them to get out of their driver's seats and become part of their local Seventh-day Adventist Church. Faith is not to be kept to our self; it has to be lived out. It has to be shared!

A pastor of another Protestant church has been listening to 97.9 FM for more than 7 years. He states that he is “convicted that God wants him to become a Seventh-day Adventist.” When he said this, he added that he planned to do that when he retires.

Strong Tower Radio listener Tim Maples, of Brimley, MI, said, “I know STR greatly helped me in my journey towards finally making the decision to follow Jesus, my Savior!” Tim wants other people to discover the everlasting gospel and the beauty of God’s character through STR as he did.

Tim pondered ways to share the 97.9 FM, STR Newberry station. He finally realized, “I have a large barn with a long side facing M-28 between I-75 and Newberry. I could paint a sign on that barn, inviting people to listen to Strong Tower Radio!” So he hired a painting team, and last Fall they painted the side of his barn white, then painted the banner in the accompanying photo, inviting people to listen to STR 97.9 FM.

Praise the Lord! Moreover, thank you, Tim, for sharing the blessing of STR! May all who drive by READ THE SIGN AND TUNE IN!

Recently, a listener added the following note with a donation: “Thank you so much for playing pastors Joe Crews and Doug Batchelor. Your radio station helped open my eyes to see that the Catholic Church is so wrong in so many things. I left it. My baptism and conversion to Seventh-day Adventism is a direct result of your radio station broadcasted from Newberry, Michigan. Thank God for your Adventist message or I would surely still be lost! I pray for your continued strength and faith in all you do because it is working. Amen!”

These testimonies are just some of the harvest from this very fruitful station planted in the eastern U.P. Praise God for the many souls that He continues to bless and transform through this powerful signal! Thank you for supporting this potent evangelism tool with your prayers and financial support.
