From The Pastor's Desk:
Generosity
I’ve been thinking about generosity lately. On the weekend of July 19th and 20th, we were able to once again worship in the sanctuary - the air conditioning being partially restored. This is due to the generosity of members of the congregation - like you. Generosity is central to our Core Values: Care and Nurture of the congregation, Compassion for those in need, Making Disciples for Christ, and Joyful Worship.
Generosity is profoundly important for us. It is rooted deeply in biblical teachings and reflects the very nature of God. God is inherently generous, starting with creation itself and culminating in the ultimate gift of Jesus Christ (John 3:16). We are called to imitate God's character, and generosity is a key aspect of that. (Ephesians 5:1).
Recently I have witnessed many acts of generosity at Lord of Life. VBS only happens because members give of their time and resources, not just in being with students, but also in preparation. A team of members gathers regularly to stay in contact with and care for members who are homebound or in care facilities. Last week many of us donated food items to help our partner congregation Bridge of Peace, and more food will be asked for to help those in need. We continue to help in many ways our friends at Christian Caring Center. I could go on, but it’s obvious that generosity is in our DNA as God’s faithful people.
Jesus himself lived a life of ultimate generosity, culminating in His sacrifice on the cross. In our baptisms we receive an outpouring of gifts from our Lord: forgiveness, hope, the family of God, life eternal, the many gifts of the Spirit, and the freedom to live a life filled with purpose and meaning.
In essence, generosity is for us, the Body of Christ, not merely an obligation but a privilege and a pathway to a deeper relationship with God, personal transformation, and a powerful witness to the world.
I experience being a part of our congregation as a joyful gift from God’s gracious heart. I hope you do as well. From our own hearts, filled with God’s grace, may we too be a gift to our church, community, and world.
May God’s richest blessings be yours!
Pastor Barry

All Church Services
Back In The Sanctuary
New Air Conditioners Are Installed
On Saturday, July19th, weekend worship services returned to our church Sanctuary. One side of the Sanctuary had the new air conditioners fully installed and running. The new system was able to have the Sanctuary cool enough to hold church services. The replacement of the second unit was completed on July 29th.
Thanks to Craig Baechler for coordinating our air conditioner replacement project and to Keith Lerner for assisting.

Fellow Congregants:
The Call Committee recently received from the Synod the Rostered Minister Profile (RMP) of our first candidate for the position as pastor of Lord of Life. The RMP lays out in detail the education, experience, and competencies of the candidate. Additional information is provided on the candidate’s accomplishments in ministry, and theological and personal insights into the candidate’s journey in ministry.
The next step is for the Call Committee to evaluate the information in the RMP in light of the Lord of Life profile and vision for mission in the Ministry Site Profile (MSP) submitted to the Synod by our Church Council. Should we decide this candidate has the potential to successfully fulfill the role of Pastor at Lord of Life, the Call Committee will schedule an interview with the candidate.
We of the Call Committee are all anxious to have a permanent pastor at Lord of Life, and we are sure you are too, but we will take as much time as necessary to do this job carefully and to the best of our abilities. We all desire to conduct this interview in a serious, relaxed, and Spirit-led manner, and we ask for your patience and prayerful support.
Faithfully,
Alan Dennison
Sue Dreisbach
Kristy Godfrey
Ed Hourihan

Diapers For Solace Thank You
During the past Lenten Season, Lord of Life members generously donated money to HopeAlive to buy diapers for their Solace Clinic. The funds were sent to Haiti and a thank you letter and donation receipt were sent to our church. The enlarged text of the letter is below along with the receipt we received.
Dear Friends of Hope Alive:
Hope Alive! Haiti would like to express our deepest gratitude for your continued
financial support. Your donation is helping us to continue to meet the many needs
that come through the doors at Hope Alive! Clinics. We truly appreciate your belief in our mission in Haiti. Together we can be the hands and feet of Jesus in a place that is desperate for His touch. Pray for continued safety for our Haitian staff and children in our programs, for justice to be served, and for the peace of God to reign in the land.
May God bless you,
Pastor Don and Josie Jagers
Renaud Civil, Haitian Administrator
Rev. Frank and Leslee Jacobs (Founders)

Care And Nurture
Ministry
The Care & Nurture Team is a ministry of Lord of Life that cares for the members of our congregation. We work with Pastor Barry in supporting those having difficult times as well as recognizing joyful events. Activities include phone calls, visits, sending cards, and sharing bulletins and LifeLines copies to those at home. Recently, we began pursuing an emergency contact list for those living alone.
The team is also on the lookout for those who may need a meal, a ride to church or help with odd jobs around the house.
Another part of this ministry is our SPLASH Program which is a “cradle roll.” Each month, the family of children from birth to 36 months receive a mailing of faith formation resources which include newsletters, music CDs, and Bible stories.
To recognize high school graduates, beautiful, comforting scarves are crocheted for them with a note from Lord of Life.
(The photo below shows Tom Tait visiting Tom Larson.)

Card Care Ministry At Lord Of Life
Have you had a birthday, wedding anniversary, or a more serious illness recently? You probably should remember receiving a card in the mail from Lord of Life sent by our Card Care Ministry.
Throughout the year, church member, Priscilla Faucett, sends out cards for joyous events in your life, like birthdays or wedding anniversaries, but she will also mail get-well cards to our members who are experiencing a more serious illness, and sympathy cards to families who have lost loved ones.
Before the cards are mailed, Priscilla will say a prayer over each one. She hopes that every card will bring the recipient joy, peace, comfort, or hope.
Several congregation members have anonymously donated postage stamps to support this Ministry, and Priscilla appreciates this greatly.
Priscilla normally attends the Saturday evening church service. If you are at this service, please thank her for making this wonderful Ministry possible.

Plastic Bag Recycling At Lord Of Life
Next time you are in Fellowship Hall, look for a large white box near the back outside doors. Above the box, you will see the sign pictured here. It explains what types of plastic bags, wrap, and film can be deposited into the box for recyling. These are some of the materials that cannot be placed in your curbside recyling containers. Our church is providing a way for you to recyle these plastic materials.
Click on the link to see a better picture of what types of plastic materials can be placed into the mesh bag.

View The Church Directory
For the last several months, Lord of Life has been using a digital, on-line church pictorial directory. Many of our church members have installed the software on their home computers and cell phones to access it.
You can now also see it by clicking on the link below.
To View The Directory - Click Here
Please take a look at your listing in the directory. Did you notice that your photo or your family photo is missing or out of date? If so, you can send the church an updated photo that will be placed into this directory by sending an email to photos@lordlife.us containing the attachment of your photo. Remember that we are more interested in seeing your faces rather than beautiful background scenes!
Contact Tom Tait (856-725-2450 or tom.tait@comcast.net) if you would like more information, or would like to have this church photo directory installed onto your cell phone.

Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times
By Adam Hamilton
As the senior pastor of a large, diverse church in America’s heartland, Adam Hamilton has seen the cost of fear up close. When he surveyed his congregation on how fear affects them, 2,400 people responded, and what they said was eye-opening. Eighty percent admitted to living with moderate or significant levels of fear.
Unafraid is Hamilton’s insightful and impassioned response. Drawing on recent research, inspiring real-life examples, and fresh biblical insight, Hamilton uses a mixture of facts and faith to help readers understand and counter fears related to such outsize perils as death and illness, as well as the everyday anxieties all of us encounter. He invites us to:
Face our fears with a bias of hope
Examine our fears in light of the facts
Attack our anxieties with action
Release our cares to God
