Greetings from C. Darby Ulery, founder of the "Let's Go! Fairhope" weekly list of local events for the 36532. Welcome to Week #7 of the newsletter and the new letsgofairhope.com website. In this week's newsletter we:
-
Highlight July 4 activities including the Baldwin Pops and more
-
Share patriotic pics from the community
-
Enjoy hot dogs and cool cones at Art Walk
-
Preview the week ahead...
In honor of the upcoming holiday, this week's newsletter features over 30 stars-and-stripes images captured locally by Fairhope residents. We aren't doing enough justice to some of the panorama shots, so I encourage you to check out the original post in the Fairhope Now Facebook group by searching "flag" and viewing the comments to see the images yourself. (Go to the group, look for the magnifying glass icon at the top, type your keyword and hit "Enter.")
While we're on the subject, I'd like to give a shout-out and special thanks to John Oldshue and Anne Dorman for their hard work inventing, admining and moderating the aforementioned group. Over 50K strong now, many of us appreciate the resource that we have in the community that comprises Fairhope Now. We can ask a question, receive local recommendations, be heard when we're frustrated, and celebrate details large and small with more participation compared to what individual profiles and pages usually allow.
Let's Go! Fairhope's Facebook group, Events in Fairhope, Alabama, is continuing to grow at just under 15K, a fraction of Fairhope Now's membership. I can tell you first-hand there is a lot that goes into keeping up a social media group behind-the-scenes. With constant Facebook changes, managing automatically-approved irrelevant or rule-violating content, combating spammers, keeping the peace among commenters, etc., groups including Fairhope Now are a community amenity which costs us $0, pays the admins $0, and likely provides some headaches along with the rewards. So! THANK YOU to John and Anne for their service to the 36532, as well as their time, advice and encouragement regarding some recent Let's Go! Fairhope endeavors.
This weekend, the sunset begins waning by two minutes, which means summer is by no means over, but "Winter is coming..." (Can I get a nod from the Game of Thrones fans in the audience??) A few July 4 -related and other activities are mentioned below. Please feel free to post additional information in the above-mentioned "Events in Fairhope, Alabama" Facebook Group, and as always, replies to this email blast are always welcome and appreciated.
May you enjoy a safe and blessed Independence Day, in Fairhope and beyond.
