Dear Friends of Notre Dame Preparatory School,
We are writing to share updates about milestones in the search for Notre Dame Prep’s next Head of School. We are committed to including all members of our community and welcome you to join us as we chart our beloved school’s future path.
Today, we are pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees has retained DRG Talent, a national leader in talent consulting and executive searches for schools and nonprofits, as our partner in this search.
The DRG team working with NDP will be led by Andrew Watson, who is familiar with the Baltimore region having recently consulted with Loyola Blakefield during the selection of Father Dennis Baker, S.J., as the new President, reflecting their core mission and Catholic values. Prior to joining DRG, Mr. Watson led as the Head of School at Albuquerque Academy in New Mexico for 19 years and as the Upper School Head at Potomac School in McLean, Virginia.
Next Steps
Working with Chair Lisa Stromberg and members of the Search Committee, DRG will hit the ground running to implement an inclusive, transparent, and effective search process. They are very optimistic about our ability to attract top-tier candidates based on NDP’s excellent reputation, strong Catholic identity, and impressive academic performance.
- Mr. Watson and his colleague Laura Hansen, who is a former senior independent school administrator and has experience with Catholic and all-girls schools, will visit campus on November 12 and 13 for an initial discovery visit to engage and meet with members of our community and the school leadership.
- Next, the Search Committee and DRG will be emailing a survey to all members of our community, allowing for the broadest possible participation in this process.
- A resource page on the NDP website will be created to host information related to the search in one place, including frequently asked questions and prior notices.
Looking Ahead
- The DRG team will post the Head of School position to seek qualified candidates based on input gathered from the visit and community survey.
- The Search Committee and DRG will interview the most promising candidates in the coming months to ultimately recommend several finalists.
- The finalists will visit our campus during the first quarter of 2025 to meet our community and determine – on our part and theirs – who represents the best fit. While we will be thoughtfully evaluating these leadership candidates, it will be important to give them a warm NDP welcome.
- Finally, the Search Committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees who will vote, and we will move toward completing the last steps of the process with ample time for transition and to prepare for the new school year.
We are grateful for your continuing support in this important effort, and we are certain that, together, we will welcome an outstanding new leader to our campus in the coming year.
