HELD WEEKLY ON TUESDAYS

Aaron Wickel will read from and sign A Whisper of the Wind, the first book of Elements, his debut fantasy series.

Kinara Katari and her fiancé Alator both serve in the Guardian Forces of Alympia, each with different talents and levels of experience. When the unrelenting enemy Javelar attacks, they join their comrades in battle, but the results are devastating to both civilians and fighters. Suddenly, Kinara is no longer a bride planning her wedding but a warrior fighting for her place in the ranks. Everyone has secrets here, and as life devolves into chaos, some are exposed while some remain hidden and everyone must do what they can to survive.

Dalia Kinsey, author of Decolonizing Wellness: A QTBIPOC-Centered Guide to Escape the Diet Trap, Heal Your Self-Image, and Achieve Body Liberation, will join us on our YouTube channel for a reading and discussion.

Kinsey argues that lack of BIPOC and LGBTQ representation in the fields of health and nutrition has led to repeated racist and unscientific biases that negatively impact the very people they purport to help. Decolonizing Wellness is a love letter to those of us who struggle with our bodies and a gentle plea for us to do the work it takes to accept, trust, and love ourselves.

Kinsey is a Registered Dietitian, Decolonized Wellness Coach, and the creator of the Body Liberation for All podcast.

HELD EVERY 2ND & 4TH WEDNESDAY

In Unraveling Bias, Dr. Brown uncovers what scientists have learned about how children are impacted by biases, and how adults can help protect them from those biases. Part science, part history, part current events, and part call to arms, Unraveling Bias provides readers with suggestions for unraveling our biases—starting with the future leaders of the world.

Dr. Brown is a Professor of Developmental Psychology and the Director of the Center for Equality and Social Justice at the University of Kentucky. Her research focuses on children's experiences with ethic, racial, and gender discrimination and stereotypes and how racism and sexism impacts the academic, social, and psychological lives of children and teens. She is the author of Parenting Beyond Pink and Blue: How to Raise Children Free of Gender Stereotypes.

Sarah Langsdon will join us to share her book Images of America: Ogden: The Charles Maccarthy Photographs.

Since its founding in 1850, Ogden has been home to fur trappers, Mormon pioneers, immigrants, railroad workers, and businessmen. The joining of the rails in 1869 with the completion of the transcontinental railroad forever changed the city. Ogdenite Charles Maccarthy was a railroader by trade and a photographer by hobby. During the early 20th century, he captured the lives of fellow Ogdenites, which included family gatherings, parades, and special events, and even stopped people on the street and asked to take their photographs.

Sarah Langsdon is the head of the Stewart Library Special Collections at Weber State University, which houses thousands of Maccarthy's photographs.

Brook Stayrook will join us to share her books Tell Me a Tale of Rebirth and Tell Me a Tale of Revenge, part of her Tell Me a Tale fantasy series.

Tell Me a Tale of Rebirth tells the story of immortal killer Caspian, whose destiny is locked away in the mind of a mortal who is cursed to be reborn without any recollection of her past lives. At the turn of the 21st century, Caspian finds her as a five-year-old child. When the 9/11 terrorist attack claims her father's life, Caspian adopts Samantha. As time passes, he unexpectedly notices that Samantha isn't the only one growing and changing. She is bringing back his humanity. These newfound emotions battle his lethal internal demons, pulling forth a sense of compassion and love that only humans can possess.

This is a classic tale of good versus evil encrypted in complexities that aren't as black and white as "happily ever after" fairytales.

Nick Bagley will join us to share stories and photographs of some of his favorite Utah places, which he has chronicled in his new book, Photographer's America: Utah Unique.

Bagley explores unheard-of areas that are regularly missed by the public. By no means a complete list, this book is designed to spark your imagination and motivate you to go out and explore on your own. Bagley investigates and photographs local legends and lore. In this book, you'll visit gardens, historic homes, explore the streets of Salt Lake City, and even learn about creepy spots and stories. This is a photographic masterpiece mixed with local history.

Julia Lyon will join us to read her new picture book based on an incredible true story. A Dinosaur Named Ruth: How Ruth Mason Discovered Fossils in Her Own Backyard tells the tale of a girl whose discovery helped uncover one of the most exciting paleontological discoveries of our time.

There's an extraordinary secret hidden just beneath Ruth Mason's feet. The year is 1905, and Ruth is a prairie girl living in South Dakota. She has no way of knowing that millions of years ago, her family farm was once home to scores of dinosaurs—until one day, when Ruth starts finding clues to the past: strange rocks and rubble scattered all across her land. They're dinosaur fossils—but she doesn't know that yet, either. It will take many years of collecting these clues, and many, many questions, but Ruth's curiosity will one day help uncover thousands of fossils all across her land.
