WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT COVID-19
It is important that all COVID-related situations continue to be reported to campus principals or campus health coordinators, even during virtual learning. Quarantine timelines can span anywhere from 7 to 24 days or more, so even when a family experiences COVID over a brief virtual school period or school break, student quarantines do not necessarily end when school resumes. Please contact campus principals or campus health coordinators to report any of the following: 1) Students experiencing COVID symptoms; 2) Household members experiencing COVID symptoms.
COVID SCREENING GUIDE FOR PARENTS - Every morning, parents should utilize this daily screening tool from the Indiana State Department of Health to determine whether or not to send your child to school.
COVID LINE FOR REPORTING - We have a dedicated phone line at ECS for reporting a positive COVID case in your family. If an ECS student or immediate family member receives a positive COVID test result, we're asking that you call the following number: 812-470-5423. That phone will be monitored by a rolling member of our administrative staff who will instruct you on next steps.

2021-2022 SCHOOL CHOICE SCHOLARSHIP (VOUCHERS) FAMILIES - ECS will begin to submit School Choice Scholarship (voucher) applications in mid-May/early June. The delay is due to current pending legislative bills and waiting for final approval from IDOE for our new grade level configuration at all ECS buildings. The Business Department will notify eligible families when we are ready to begin the voucher application process. Please contact Nerissa Foor with any questions.
SGO FAMILIES FOR THE CURRENT 2020/2021 SCHOOL YEAR - If your student received an SGO Grant for this 20/21 school year, you may qualify for a School Choice Voucher in 21/22. Click here to check the income guidelines, and contact Nerissa Foor with any questions.
REMINDERS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
IREAD-3 - IREAD-3 will be administered to all ECS 3rd grade students on Tuesday, March 9th and Wednesday March 10th with the practice test on Monday, March 8th. It is an online multiple choice test that will assess students' reading comprehension, word analysis, and vocabulary. Results of the test will be sent to schools in April. Students not passing the test will be required to participate in remediation and will have one opportunity in the summer to retake the test. Students who do not pass will be retained in 3rd grade. Click here for a short video from the Indiana Dept. of Education explaining why students take I-READ3.
STUDENT WELLNESS - Check out these March newsletters about health and wellness for your child! NUTRITION NUGGETS - Food and Fitness for a Healthy Child (click here) and TEEN FOOD AND FITNESS - Healthy Ideas for Middle and High School Students (click here).
STUDENT BREAKFAST - This is a reminder that student breakfasts are available at the East and Crossroads Campus (Crossroads Campus only serves Crossroads students) cafeterias from 7:30-7:45 a.m. for students who are not enrolled in Before School Care (BSC). For students enrolled in BSC, student breakfast is available during BSC.  The normal cost for breakfast is $1.35. However, due to the pandemic, ECS is operating under a free meal program, all students are eligible, for the rest of the school year or until the USDA funds are depleted.
EMERGENCY WEATHER PROCEDURE - With Spring weather around the corner, we want to remind parents that if a campus is under a warning (storm or tornado), campuses will NOT release students. This is required by law enforcement. Parents will be allowed to enter the building and wait in a designated location until the warning has expired.
