Bernie's Bark

10.27.2026

Dear Families,

This weekend I found myself thinking about our students and how to best support and guide them. As part of their secondary teaching contingent, parents are the first, I decided to start a novena to St. Philomena. I asked her to watch over our students and school as we all work together in supporting the children in growing spiritually, educationally and emotionally.

On November 2nd Mrs. Culligan and the IT team will be updating passwords for our students. You will receive an email from IT on Monday the 2nd after school with your students updated information.

On Friday November 13th we will have our Veterans Day Mass and celebration. The 3rd grade leads us in Mass. All veterans are invited to the reception in Hall C after Mass. The students will be brought to Hall C by the NJHS students helping. If your child will be attending the event with their veteran please let their homeroom teacher know.

Looking forward to seeing everyone Thursday night at Trunk or Treat. I heard we are at capacity with trunks so that is amazing!

Make me an instrument of your peace.

St. Joseph, pray for us.

Peace,

Mrs. Stich

Trunk or Treat

The PTO is excited to welcome registered families to our most Spook-tabular event of the year! The parking lot will open to vehicles at 5pm! Listen for the bell to start trick or treating around 6:15pm. Please keep our shared Catholic values in mind when planning decorations and costumes. Parking passes will be emailed on Wednesday to registered participants.

To make sure we have enough candy and a safe environment for all of our kids, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • No Walk-ins Allowed: Entry is strictly limited to registered vehicles or those with a buddy pass.
  • Headcount Matters: We use this final registration list to ensure our trunk or treat hosts buy the perfect amount of candy for our registered guests.

Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation as we get ready for a spooktacular night!

Keep an eye out for our friends from the Herndon Police Department, who are back to support us again this year! Their vehicles will be on-site to ensure a safe, secure, and fun evening for all our families....they may even have some treats to hand out!

Congrats SJS Cheerleaders!

Congratulations are in order for our SJS cheerleading team! They marched in the Herndon Homecoming Parade and took home FIRST PLACE in the Performing Arts category! We are so proud! Go Saints!

Leftover or Unwanted Halloween Candy?

Do you have left over, unopened Halloween candy that could use a new home? Consider donating individually wrapped candy to bring a smile to those in need! The donated candy will be distributed in a few different places, including the Missions in the Philippines and to diocesan programs that support people in need in our local community! Mrs. Hitchcock is collecting unopened, individually wrapped Halloween candy for one week: Monday, November 2nd through Friday, November 6th. Please put all donations in a sealed, plastic baggie.

Students can place donations in a sealed plastic baggie in the collection box found outside the Resource Room until Friday, November 6th. Thank you for your help in bringing a small treat and a smile to those in need!
