As you embark on your unique Becoming Orange journey, we welcome you into the campus community and look forward to supporting your successful transition to Syracuse University.

Leading up to Welcome Week and throughout your first year, New Student Programs will provide essential information, resources, and deadlines. To prevent missing information, we encourage you to explore the following and the Welcome webpage.

IMPORTANT: This is the last email to your personal email account. All future communications (orientation, move-in, Welcome Week, etc.) will be sent to your Syracuse University email (@syr.edu). Please start checking it regularly.

Immediate Action

Set-up NetID and password: Access your SUMail (@syr.edu), MySlice, Patient Portal, etc.
Access SUMail: Check your @syr.edu email frequently for updates.
Prepare for Arrival: Complete Required Tasks and understand move-in schedule (details coming in July).

International Student Move-In: Aug. 15-16, 2025
Pre-Welcome Participant Move-In: Aug. 15-18, 2025 (program dependent)
New Student Move-In:
Students from NY, NJ, MA and PA: Aug. 18-19, 2025 (Exact date and time is assigned and will be sent via email in July)
Students from all other states/territories: Aug. 20, 2025 (exact time is assigned and will be sent via email in July)
Welcome Week (Required): Aug. 21-24, 2025

Apply for Housing

Due: May 31, 2025

All new students are required to live on campus and invited to explore the Living Learning Communities (LLCs) as an option. There are more than 20 living learning communities and three theme housing communities to choose from, including communities centered on the arts, business management, cultural exploration, education, global connections, health and wellness, leadership, and science and math.

Apply for Housing by May 31, 2025 in order to participate in the roommate matching part of the housing process.

Enroll/Waive Student Health Insurance Plan: Avoid premium charges on your June Bursar bill by submitting an approved waiver.
