Let’s Go Racing

We’ve had turtles on video racing each other, along with Ostriches, Camels, Dogs, and Ducks. Not to mention Soap Box Derby Cars, Airplanes, Dragsters, Grand Prix, IndyCar and NASCAR. Seems only fitting to almost end the 4th quarter membership incentive reports with this competition, and this one was really close.
Thank goodness there wasn’t an Optimist crash at the end of the race. More than 500 Clubs participated in the race, and more than 550 members were added to the roster. Nearly 30 percent of the participating Clubs added at least one member in the fourth quarter, and some added many more.
The rules of the contest stipulate that the first quarter dues for all the new members added during the race must be paid by October 31. This will allow Optimist International to announce the unofficial results of the Race to the Finish on November 3, 2023. The rules also state the new members added during the race must remain on a Club’s roster in the second quarter of the Optimist year, and their dues paid to allow a Club to qualify for one of the prizes.
The top prize in the race is $1,000 for the Club adding the most members. The Club with the highest percentage of net membership growth during the period will also collect $1,000. There will be cash prizes for second and third place in both categories. Any club not falling into the top three positions of each category will be placed in a random draw for one of two additional cash prizes.
