Strengthening Our Community through Shared Learning
Dear Trident Academy Families,
I hope this letter finds you well and that you and your family are enjoying a safe and fun summer vacation. After a short trip to Montana with my family, I headed to Nashville last Sunday to huddle up with almost 300 other school leaders at the Annual Association for LD Schools Summit. The conference was dynamic and full of learning and sharing amongst peers.
Just like our students find comfort in an environment where they belong and share commonalities with those learning beside them, being in this setting was both enlightening and rejuvenating. When we know that our peers share our common struggles and understand what it feels like to walk in our shoes, it is easier to be open and vulnerable, easier to ask questions, and easier to take risks. As a result, the learning that takes place in these environments is deep.
Another exciting thing that I took away from the conference was the alignment between our professional development themes for the upcoming year and the leading trends amongst the top schools like ours across the country. Specifically, topics like Educational Technology and AI, Executive Functioning, and Design Thinking came up over and over again, as various school leaders presented on ways to take learning deeper and further in our schools. These are some of the very themes that we will dive into as a team during this year’s in-service, and that we will continually revisit throughout the year through robust professional development workshops. We are also excited about some of the parent education initiatives we have coming in 2026-27. We hope you will attend these sessions, as there is so much to learn in our educational community—and the more we know, the better we can serve our students.
Altogether, we are very excited about the upcoming school year and the trajectory of our amazing school. We can’t wait to see you back on campus, and we hope you enjoy your final weeks of summer.
Take care of yourselves. Take care of each other. And take care of our school.
