Clemson Entrepreneur of the Week

Jayson Tompkins

Founder & Chief Digital Officer, Stahls' Fulfill Engine

Founder, Print Your Cause

B.S., Computer Information Systems, 2008

What role do you play in the entrepreneurial ecosystem?

In 2018, I founded Print Your Cause, a platform designed to help nonprofits raise funds through sustainable print-on-demand swag. What started as a mission-driven business quickly gained traction, becoming Inc. Magazine’s fastest-growing company in South Carolina.

Little did my co-founders and I know that the software we built for Print Your Cause would evolve into something much bigger—Fulfill Engine, a leading software solution for the print-on-demand and e-commerce fulfillment industry. Fulfill Engine streamlined complex fulfillment processes, enabling businesses to scale efficiently. Within just a year of founding it, we were fully acquired, validating the impact and demand for the platform we had built.

Beyond my own ventures, I am passionate about supporting and mentoring entrepreneurs. I currently serve as the President of EO Charleston, the local chapter of Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), a global network of founders dedicated to learning, growth, and peer support. Through EO, I help cultivate a community where entrepreneurs can connect, share experiences, and navigate the challenges of scaling a business.

What are some of your best memories of your time at Clemson?

Some of my best memories at Clemson revolve around the incredible community and lifelong connections I made. The relationships I built both personally and professionally have had a lasting impact on my life.

I spent countless hours at Fike playing basketball, volleyball, and just about every intramural sport offered. Competing, staying active, and connecting with friends through sports was a huge part of my Clemson experience.

A computer science class in my junior year had a recruiter come present from Blackbaud, which led to my first job and a 12-year career in nonprofit software. That opportunity ultimately set the foundation for Print Your Cause and Fulfill Engine—neither would exist today if it wasn't for that class and recruiter!

What were the key inflection points in your career after you left Clemson?

  • Starting Print Your Cause (2018): My first major entrepreneurial leap, creating a print-on-demand company that empowered nonprofits and brands to raise funds through customized products.

  • Scaling to Fulfill Engine (2023): What started as a niche solution evolved into a robust technology-driven print on demand fulfillment platform, gaining traction with major partners and global clients.

  • Acquisition by Stahls (2024): This milestone marked a transition into a larger organization where we could apply expertise to shape the future of print-on-demand on a global scale.

What are your personal and professional dreams?

Personally, my wife, Lindsay, and I are passionate about experiences that enrich our family’s life. Each summer, our goal is to live in a different country for 4-6 weeks, immersing ourselves in a new culture with our daughters. We also love supporting animal welfare, as Lindsay runs a dog foster nonprofit. Balancing my passion for business with being present for my family took years to figure out, but it’s one of the most important things I’ve learned.

Professionally, I want to continue pushing the boundaries of the print-on-demand and fulfillment space, fostering technology and automation advancements that make it easier for brands, creators, and businesses to bring their visions to life. Long-term, I hope to invest in and mentor emerging entrepreneurs, helping them navigate the challenges of building and scaling a business. I've had so many incredible mentors who impacted my entrepreneurial journey.

What would you recommend students do to maximize their remaining time at Clemson?

  • Now is the time to take risks & explore new ideas. Whether it’s starting a side business, joining a startup competition, or testing a new concept, no time is better than now. It took me 10 years post graduation to start my first business, and it was the hardest thing I've ever done... working a full time job with a family to support while trying to build a new business.

  • Build relationships. Your peers, professors, and mentors could become future business partners, investors, or key collaborators.

  • Gain real-world experience. Whether through internships, freelance work, or launching a small venture, hands-on experience is invaluable.

  • Enjoy the journey. Clemson is a special place. Soak in the experiences, embrace the challenges, and make the most of the community.

What else should we know about you?.

Family, sports, and travel are my biggest passions. I love coaching my two daughters (8 and 10) in basketball, soccer, and volleyball, getting to share my love for sports while watching them develop their skills and teamwork. I also try to travel to as many Clemson games as possible. I still play basketball a few times a week, and on the rare free day, you’ll probably find me out on the golf course.
