Good morning,

As we move into fall, we're excited to share updates on upcoming classes, important resources, and ways to support family caregivers during this season.

But first, an important update from our partners at California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR). Effective January 1, 2026, California will enact a policy change that reinstates asset limits for the Medi-Cal program. Read more here. (For some good news on CA policy wins, see our round-up here!).

In this month's E-Provider Update, we're sharing a range of classes, spotlighting disaster preparedness with newly available webinar recordings, introducing our latest Smart Caregiving resource, and sharing an October 31 deadline for submitting innovative programs to USAging's Caregiver Innovations Hub.

As always, we encourage you to refer family caregivers to FCA for free and low-cost support and services. Whether through our phone lines, online intake, or in-person programs, we're here to provide the personalized assistance that makes a real difference in caregivers' lives.

Thanks for all you do!

Warmly,

Family Caregiver Alliance

Recordings Available: Disaster Preparedness for Family Caregivers

Play-on-demand recordings are now available for two disaster planning webinars FCA hosted in partnership with Listos California in July. Featuring the same content and format, the recordings are offered in two languages:

Designed specifically for family caregivers, these recordings provide guidance and best practices for caregivers to ensure they and their care recipients are safely prepared should a disaster strike. Guidance includes tips for caregivers supporting individuals with limited mobility, cognitive impairment or power-dependent medical equipment and refrigerated medication. Sessions include a Q&A.

Be sure to bookmark or print this one-pager of emergency preparedness tips!

Smart Caregiving Series Tackles Holiday Caregiving

The latest installment in our Smart Caregiving Series addresses a caregiver question ahead of the holiday:

"Everyone in my family is expected to attend my sister’s holiday gathering—even our frail elderly parents. As their primary caregiver, I’m overwhelmed just thinking about going. What should I do?"

This practical resource provides guidance on navigating the stress and expectations of holiday gatherings. It offers compassionate strategies for setting boundaries, managing family dynamics, and finding moments of connection and self-care during the season.
