For the past decade the wisdom from Solomon has helped my prayer life: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,
and He will make your paths straight”
(Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV).
As we begin this last quarter of 2026, perhaps this word is an invitation for us to continue “to seek the Lord’s face” (Psalm 27:8) and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus (Heb. 12:2).
“Holy Spirit, I trust in you; I trust in your guidance and leadership in my life; I submit myself to You and ask that you will illumine my path.”
The mission of the Global Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread Scriptural holiness across the globe. The way early Methodism was intentional in the formation of disciples (followers)
of Jesus Christ was through small groups of spiritual accountability called societies, classes, and bands. These small groups were formed in part to help us “watch over one another in love.” These small groups are meeting places meant to pray together, encourage one another, and answer the question,
“How are things with you and the Lord?” The early question Wesley had us ask is “How is it with your soul?”
Perhaps we may consider ways to intentionally reclaim this practice in the life of our church. For now, we would like to ask you to prayerfully consider some small group opportunities on Sunday mornings and Tuesdays.
- We currently have a wonderful Sunday School class for adults facilitated by Bob and Terri Lacher.
- We are beginning a class for parents with children as an option if that is of interest. While you’re meeting, your children will also be in Sunday School (Children’s Sunday school for the littles will continue during the worship hour as well).
- On Tuesday the women’s small group is meeting around Paul’s letter to Philippians with Beth Moore. And we are offering a small group (two times) around classic Christian beliefs that may be helpful for us to revisit from time to time.
This week Rebecca and I will be taking a four-day weekend trip to visit our son and his family in OKC, Oklahoma. Chris will be providing spiritual leadership in worship and serve as our Lay Preacher for worship. Please, join us regularly in worship if you’re able. Thank you.
