Dear friends and colleagues,
Spring is officially here. And we are well on our way for our 20th What's Next Longevity Venture Summit, which will be held June 14-15 LIVE at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley, California. We are excited to announce that AARP renewed for the 20th year as the lead sponsor of the event. Registration is open and we continue to add exciting speakers and agenda items. We will be hosting the Social Connection Pitch Competition with the AgeTech Collaborative from AARP at the Summit. More details to come soon. And don't forget that the deadline to apply to the $10k Business Plan Competition is April 28, 2023! In other conference news, we are excited to participate in the CABHI conference and as a judge in the Longitude Prize Competition on Dementia in the UK.
It has not been an easy time in Silicon Valley but we must say how impressed we are by the many investors, bankers, governments and corporations came together to shore up the financial crisis situation. It has been difficult for many start-up CEOs to navigate the changes, on top of the regular challenges of running a company. We will be sharing some of the latest strategies for going to market and navigating financial issues at our upcoming events. It has been stressful but – like the California winds and storms – we know this will pass and we will continue to weather whatever challenges lie ahead.
Our hearts are heavy from the loss of pioneer and investor John Hopper and our support goes out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. John was the founder and Chief Investment Officer of the Ziegler Link-Age fund and judged many of our competitions. He provided sound judgement, integrity, and leadership for entrepreneurs and investors alike. Read the "In Memoriam" below for a longer recognition of his monumental contributions to the field.
Be sure to take time for self-care! I'm working to up my step count each day. Join me!
Warmly,
Mary

In Memoriam: John William Hopper, II
It is with a sad heart that we share the news of our dear colleague John Hopper, the founder of the Ziegler Link-Age funds, who died unexpectedly from unknown causes on Tuesday, March 14. His family will hold a celebration of life on March 22 in Bluffton, SC. John was a pioneer in the longevity marketplace and an amazing board member and investor who helped the CEOs of companies such as Carelinx, Embodied Labs, TCARE, LifeSite, Vynca, Blue Star Telehealth, Breezie, and many more. He was a judge every year in our competition since the formation of the Ziegler Link-Age fund, and we participated weekly in the Academies that helped vet the next generation of ideas. He had the smartest intellect and the kindest personality, and was a stalwart board member and investor. We are all absorbing this loss and are all so much better for having had him in our lives. Our hearts go out to his family and his extended network of friends.
